(C) I would agree that it's pretty easy not to be wasteful and to conserve energy. For some people that's an evil goal and any efforts to that end must be squashed.
This year I decided that increasing my own energy usage wasn't enough and used the phone code I have at work to remote turn on the lights of entire floors at my office building downtown!

I guess I didn't use green text last year to make things more obvious. In all seriousness I carried on as per usual during Earth hour.

I shut the power off at the breaker box at my house, so to keep the family amused we had a big bonfire of Styrofoam and aerosol cans! It was fun and I can't wait for next year.

Seriously though - I like to think my family does all we can year round to make a difference. That way I don't need to worry about one hour in the year because some special interest group tells me I need too.

Honestly, I did not hear even ONCE that it was earth hour until my sister in law called and asked if we had turned off the lights (jokingly). Pretty poorly advertised this year. I know that the message of earth hours is to raise awareness, and not any real enivronmental consideration, but when you don't hear about it at all, how does that raise awareness?

Spent earth hour amongst the blazing lights, spinning ferris wheel, roller coaster on the Santa Monica pier.

I would like to think I did my part for Earth hour, I had about 15 people over to watch the fights. The way I see it it was much like car pooling if everyone is at my house using up my energy they aren't at theirs using house using energy...right??

I didn't know it was earth hour. I did have a bunch of people over to watch the UFC PPV so at least it was only on one TV not several...

Went out to watch a movie, everything at my place was turned off.

I'll play along, any movement to get people using less resources is fine with me.

You must be having entire conversations by yourself. I am asking you to tell me where electricity comes from. A very basic question.

Okay. So the event was silly and pointless for you. But there are millions of other people in the world who partipated who didn't think it was pointless.

Perhaps you could come up with some way to help make our planet a little healthier. Do you have any ideas?

Although, correct me if I am wrong.I get the impression you don't give a crap about trying to have a healthier planet. Am I right about that?

The point was made that people talking about it in this thread showed that it was a good thing. I was pointing out that the majority of the talk was making fun of it. If people around the world found it useful good for them, but I was replying to the individual post about this thread.

I have other things that I care about more than thinking up ideas to make the planet healthier.

I wouldn't say that I don't care, but it certainly isn't close to the top of the list of things that I care or think about.
