I think it is. During the silent segment they had "The Rush" pasted on the scoreboard. It looks like a feature.

It is on purpose. They branded it "NHL Rush" and commentators said enjoy the fastest game in sports and left it at that for a couple minutes. I love it! There should almost be an alternate stream

It is on purpose. They call it "The Rush". They switch to ice level cameras and stop the commentary for one whistle to whistle game segment... Will be interesting if they keep doing it if it's like a 7 minute long stretch without a whistle.

It’s deliberate. The main commentator guy said they were going to shut up for a while for “the rush”. I agree with his comment that I was just waiting on someone swearing
