We are 7th in the league in scoring - I'd say secondary scoring is not a huge issue.
Secondary scoring was fantastic before Backlund started to struggle and got demoted to the Raymond Line (AKA the New Setoguchi Hospice).

How long should you simmer the prospects? Season the prospects? Sauté the prospects? All of these questions avoid the hardest question:

How many cups of coffee should a prospect have?

Enough to ripen and overcook.

I'm not happy either with Raymond being slotted in constantly regardless of his play out there. The guy is pretty much useless 70-75% of the time with the odd time he will shoot and hit a post or score. I really am not liking his game this year. Too much on the outside, not enough getting the puck to the net. He is really good at speeding in a doing a quick circle though. Almost as good as Jokinens swoops.

This......a thousand times...this.

Considering the job Hartely has done this season, no one should question his decisions.

I think Backlund was dropped down because him, Jones and Bouma were all performing well and Hartley was hoping Backlund could get Colborne or Raymond going.

The premise of wins where the first line players don't get a point = good secondary scoring is a bit off. Monahan got a point last game, but it was secondary scoring that counted most.

And I agree that, if the top line of most teams don't acore, their chances of a win go way down. Most teams have scoring per line that would look like an inverted triangle.

Entitlement issues with a 21 year old pro athlete? SHOCKING.

The test is how he handles the reality check. Those who respond well, are winners, those who don't, are losers.

I think we'll find out that Backlund isn't 100%.

I'm not stoked to hear that Molberg rumour, but it doesn't make sense to me... he's been treated far better than any other D-prospect this year and has made a few weeks of NHL salary.

I can understand the want to play, the desire to contribute, but I don't understand where Wotherspoon would even get his entitlement from... Odd rumour to start with 3 games to go in the season... Colour me confused.

If they truly were unhappy with him wouldn't they have called someone else up before him? Cundari, Culkin (prior to his injury), Kulak were all solid options at one point. Until there's some form of actual evidence otherwise I would just attribute it to Bob going with who he feels is the best fit for the game as he has in all positions this season

I seem to recall he left after that season because he wanted to be with his family.

I will give Wotherspoon the benefit of the doubt here.

he has been called up and down five times without any nhl ice. He may not be entitled to the icetime but he sure as heck is entitled to ask why not.

I think Treliving calls up whoever is playing best and is a fit if needed. Example - Sven. He had entitlement issues and still got two calls.

I would expect a certain attitude resembling "entitlement" issues from young players right on the cusp of breaking into the big show. If there wasn't I would suspect there is a lack of drive and compete in a player.

Ultimately it comes down to how you play the game on the ice during times like this for Wotherspoon and Poirier et al. If Wotherspoon can man up and play solid consistent hockey he'll have absolutely nothing to worry about going forward. He'l be a part of the solution without a doubt. Let the business side of the game creep into your on ice play (i.e a certain ex-flame or two) and you certainly won't be dong yourself any favors.

Good to be pissed off and believe you've done enough to get some ice time with the parent club. But don't let your ego run you. Put your nose to the ground and plug away. Your time will come.

With that said. I feel that Wotherspoon had done enough with his limited appearance last season while he was with Calgary. And by all accounts has had an incredibly solid season in Addy.

But we fans don't run the team and Hartley's taken us all this far. whatever he thinks is best for the roster, I support. Just sucks as Wotherspoon and Bennett can be deal breakers in a game or series. We'll see how it all shakes down the rest of this year and how training camp unfolds.

EDIT: I do however sctratch my head in confusion when I see Shore is out of the line up. He's been great.
