Is it crazy to think we'll be in the playoff hunt for a good portion of next season? I don't think so. Take away some late collapses earlier in the year at the hands of the Berra experiment and we're right in the thick of it this year.
If we were getting this kind of goaltending all year and Gio didn't miss any time, we might be right there with Dallas right now.

We have the same number of wins as they do. They just have 9 more loser points.

"Relevant" franchise vs year 1 of a rebuild.

It's going to take a really strong offseason from our unknown GM to make us competitive for 82 games. Relying on too few players to run things still.

But yes, Berra lost us some games.

Oh yes Devils fans, this is the game that ended your season not being 0-11 in SO. What a joke. LOL.

"You don't understand. I'm not saying they should have just rolled over for NJ. I wouldn't want them to do that if they were playing Columbus. But teams like Calgary, CONSTANTLY missing the playoffs, all they seem to do is just eat up the spoiler role year after year after year after year. I'd hate NJ to become a team like that. This game meant so much more to NJ and you have Calgary battling like crazy in this game for what exactly? The way they were just trying to clear the defensive zone late in the third period, you would actually think they had something to play for. But they never ****ing do. Ever."

Love it

#16 on at the end with only a 1 goal lead.

Good work big man.

Awesome result. I just hope the Islanders keep winning.

Would have liked to see Cundari get a bit more ice time.

It's important that Cammy either re-signs, or we are able to bring in a talented vet who can put up equal or better offence in order for us to compete for the playoffs into the spring next season. If we lose those 25-30 goals, it'll take a big step forward from some of these young guys like Monahan and Colborne (and Baertschi) in order to just fill that void, let alone improve on our offence from this season. The new GM is going to have to do some savvy wheeling and dealing this offseason.

I was lurking in HF when that guy started posting his drivel. All I could think was that some guys from CP were going to start trolling him bigtime. I wasn't disappointed. Lol.

Incredible what a wee bit of confidence from the coach does. Big Ern's loving the PP time.

This guy is comedic gold. I bet he's just frothing at the mouth at his keyboard.
Flames play in the meat grinding harder travel West too.

Try that crap on for size. Doesn't quite fit us, but it might on you.

Too bad you didn't take that into account in your cushy Metro/Neapolitan division. Maybe dial into the Bettman lottery balls complaint line now, since that'll probably be your only beef going forward.

Some glorious troll posts in the "Do something about the goalies" thread:
Quote:
Clearly the answer you are looking for, OP, is that all goalies should be required to spin around for 30 seconds before every offensive zone faceoff, so as to make them dizzy, and thus eliminating their unfair advantage.
Quote:
Maybe next time the Flames play your Devils, just to make it fair, maybe Calgary can call up a junior goalie.
Quote:
Debilitate the goaltenders, tie them with one had behind their back. What kind of an idiot would appreciate good goaltending. Better yet, just get rid of goalies so we can get the same we can get 40-80 goals per game.

I love it.
Fans at the arena were good though. I've never seen the air let out of a building quite like when Gio scored though. I jumped up to cheer as the only Flames fan within three sections. Absolute, dead silence around me. Didn't get much loader for the rest of the game.

PS, Mr. Edwards? I like the Prudential Center. A lot. Can we have one in Calgary?

Calgary plays in a better division and both teams have the same amount of wins...they can go pound sand

What a narrow minded view to have. Clearly doesn't understand the importance of a winning culture to a team in the Flames' position. You don't just stop playing the games when you're out of it. Most fans of teams in that division wouldn't understand though, anyways. Mediocre teams still get away with making the playoffs over there because the overall level of competition is markedly lower on the whole (Boston and barely Pitts can be classified as high end teams), and fans of these teams are fooled year after year into thinking that they actually have a chance at the prize, just because they make the dance. In the west they'd be horribly embarrassed and exposed for their true weaknesses. It's definitely true about them having it easy.

Anyways, he'd be one of the first to jump ship in a rebuild, and it looks like that's exactly where the Devils are headed in sooner than later. Poor ######.

We have the same amount of wins as the Devils, but every one of their 34 wins is ROW.

The Devils have lost every single one of their 11 shootouts, which takes some crap luck even from a bad team. Even teams like Buffalo and Florida get half a dozen SO wins over the season.
