Perhaps you and Poe can offer a course in being a proper fan, how to cheer for sports teams, and generally give guidance to those fans that aren't measuring up.

I was so glad when I heard he was going to Pittsburgh instead of Boston. Pens are my 2nd favorite team behind the Canucks and I do like Iginla, so I hope he at least gets a chance to get his picture taken with the prince of wales trophy.

I suddenly want the Rangers to finish 8th and pull off the playoff upset. 4 days ago I was hoping they'd miss the playoffs.

Anti-Pens or anti-Iginla (I can't imagine the player, so I assume the fact that he forced Feaster's hand)?

As someone who can't understand why Player A "deserves" a cup more than Player B, I'm hoping for an epic fail from the Penguins.

Flames fan only 'till I die...

Just liking a 26 pick better than a 30 pick. The Rangers are a team that I think would best stand a chance of a 8-1 upset.

I am disgusted with the Flames and how dumb they are with how they run the team these days...but at this point I can't abandon them. I want to hate them, but I can't.

What are the odds of the Pens going 0-13 the rest of the way, missing the playoffs and winning the draft lottery?

Dream big, I say!

Fair enough. If the draft order was based solely on being eliminated in the playoffs (the potential difference in draft pick being 15-18 v 30 rather than 26 v 30) I could get on board. The difference between 26 and 30 is just so negligible that I'd rather see Iginla win a Cup.

I think I might actually puke the first time I see Cooke and Iginla celebrate something together.

It could be 25 vs 30....
Plus the teams drafting in those spots might know what they are doing. Iginla can win another year, the Flames need to start getting better players ASAP.

people are free to cheer for/against anybody they want...or buy any merch they want with their own money.

There is a pretty good chance Iggy is only there for couple months I personally would hold off on the jersey

Good god people, I am just chatting on a message board. It is not like I would hold that against someone in real life.

Finally someone points this out.

In a selection of 10 drafts (2000-2010), the 26th pick has yielded nine NHL players (Kuznetsov not included). By comparison, the 30th pick has yielded five NHL players, all of whom are depth players.

I don't know about the rest of you, but picking a potential NHLer who can help the franchise in the future supercedes Iginla getting a cup ring.

For comparison sake, I've also included 24th pick which has yielded some some notable players.

Players picked at 24th : Alex Steen, Mike Richards, TJ Oshie, Mikael Backlund, Matthias Tedenby, Marcus Johansson

Players picked at 26th: Brian Boyle, Cory Schneider, Matt Pelech, Leland Irving, David Perron, Tyler Ennis, Lukas Krajicek, Brad Boyes, Kyle Palmieri, Evgeny Kuznetsov

Players picked at 30th: Jim Slater, Vladimir Mihalik, David Steckel, Brian Sutherby, Simon Depres

Shrug. I have little faith in the Flames' scouting. 25/26 v 30 is negligible, IMO.

If the Flames finish with a top 3 pick, I would bet they trade Pittsburgh's pick for 2 picks to help increase the number of darts they have to throw at the drafting dartboard.

At first I was glad that he went to Pittsburg because he deserves a cup, but fact is he's not a flame anymore so really dont care if he gets the ring or not. Id still much rather see the flames succeed then him winning.

I made this a while ago but never found a chance to use it... but I think this works nicely in response to the thread:
