On one hand I'd want to see him humiliate Spector et al. He'd insult their (lack of) intelligence at every opportunity in the most savage and blunt manner imaginable. They don't have the testicular fortitude to survive a Sutter tenure.

On the other, the potential upside of what he could do in a short window isn't worth the satisfaction of the former.

Let these last seasons of top end talent fizzle out with a whimper.

McDavid won't sign off on a Sutter hire, he's looking forward to a massive payday and he knows Sutter would neuter his ice time and individual trophy's.

Hahaha, I just thought of what Sutter would do with McDavid's ice time.

He'd roll 4 lines then when mickey-doodles confronts him Sutter would tell him all his points don't grant him special treatment unless he does the right things on the ice in all zones.

Essentially, Pissy's worst nightmare.

Didn't the Oilers approach Sutter a few years ago and he essentially told them to get lost?

This. Any decision the oilers would make on a coach would be less based on winning and more based on what would make McDavid/Draisaitl happy. They won’t take the risk of bringing in a coach they offensive players don’t like and it leads to Draisaitl and McDavid wanting out sooner than when their contract is up.

The Beav gets canned November 30 after the Oilers lose to the Jets. New coach has six days to implement a new system before the next game.

Count me on the crew that absolutely does not want to see Sutter in Edmonton. No way no how.

I need 72 more games of that smug woodcock getting what’s coming for him but in a slow painful drawn out way.

I think most of the coaches can make McDavid a complete player. Problem is he doesn't want to become 2 way best player.

Thats essentially a miracle.

Sutter wasnt the problem...he was the answer. The players just didnt like it.

I am rapidly becoming less and less inclined to GAF what hockey players do or dont like. Its getting to the point where hockey players need to quit whining, STFU and just play.
This is revisionist history. Sutter was making simply stupid decisions all season long and he coached himself out of a job with how he treated everyone, not just the players.

Not sure why we couldn't get a demanding coach on he ice who isn't a total ahole to everyone.

Zero chance. Babock has too much connection, and they've clearly demonstrated a 0% level of ****s given about chracter and repution up there for as long as most of us have been alive.

If it's not Babcock, it's Quenneville. And either legacy will end in the same hysterial fashion - "McDavid-led Oilers clear cup favourites - nobody can compete! Sportsnet GUARANTEES!"

1 year later: "Mastercraft Oilers roster held back by coach"

Oh, I get it. I'm just surprised that so many of their fans would be willing to take on Sutter with his Flames stink and the high probability that he insults the sensibilities of the likes of McDavid, Draisatl and Nurse.

I think the Drai-Sutter interactions would be epic.

Knowing our luck, Sutter would coach the Oilers to a cup if they hired him. I hope and don’t think it’ll happen

Seems to me when Sutter returned he had said this was it. That he wanted one last chance with unfinished business and that there were only 2 franchises he would return to coach; Calgary and Chicago.
