Well, it could if Apple didn't keep their OS proprietary.
No kidding, I even wrote that there's lots of reasons to buy a mac, but performance or speed are NOT the reasons. Yet, this whole thing started when someone said that Macs run Vista just as good as PC's. While I have not concretely proven that that is false, I am extremely confident in my hypothesis. Someone else can prove me wrong if they have the resources

So is Dell's knockoff (XPS ONE), both are absolutely terrible compared to the iMac. When properly configured, however, iMacs just don't hold a candle in any type of performance - not only in games, but in all aspects of productivity.
If PCMark is irrelevant, then I ask what sort of objective test would be relevant to the topic at hand? The link includes other things like rendering in 3d Max, transcoding in divX and such, but it is hard to find the exact same test in iMac reviews. People accuse me of throwing out baseless claims, what would be a solid "base" to prove that a properly configured PC would be faster?
I can already predict the rebuttal - "Noone cares about synthetic benchmarks, it's all about the Mac experience!" I know that, but if you're going to use that as your basis to claim that Macs perform better than PC's, then accusing me of having baseless claims is hypocritical.

Are you accusing me of fanboi'ism? Because that is ridiculous. I understand the benefits of a Mac-based computer. I think that Leopard is miles ahead of Vista in terms of features and usability. However, to say that a properly configured PC is faster than any of Apple's iMac offerings is NOT fanboi'ism. It is the truth. For a Mac user to suggest otherwise - THAT is fanboi'ism.
