Let me see, go on a beautiful vacation to an exotic location in Europe or sit in a dump and watch entitled millionaires chase a rubber disk with little passion or care. Choice seems obvious to me.
Hats off to those individuals who have had enough of this price gouging and are dropping their tickets. As long as people continue to pay these ridiculous prices (and getting little in return) nothing will change. I don't blame the owners for upping prices if people continue to pay. The problem with pro sports is not the owners and players (I mean who would turn down money), it's the fans who continue to buy into this. You see how fast tickets prices, athlete salaries, and owner profit would drop if everyone just stopped watching or attending. Alas, I am living in a dream world.

Gotta love the internet. Where people feel the need to try and belittle people that have different priorities/passions/circumstances than their own. Hope the rest of your life is going great.

Maybe a backpacking trip. LOL
For most people buying season tickets it’s not an either or proposition.

Agreed - 42 nights of entertainment is a much better use of the money then sitting on a beach for 7 days !

Lots of tickets are utilized for business purposes, so there is that.
Not a dream world, but a somewhat unrealistic world.
Just because the product has become boring in Calgary, doesn't mean it isn't thriving elsewhere.

The flames give you free seat upgrades? I use to get a random invite for food as part of a season ticket holder appreciation event during the game at the dome but haven’t gotten anything in years. It would be nice to get the end of year season ticket holder event back.

To me the $1500 in the press levels is my equivalent to others buying Starbucks every day. Plus it helps give me something to look forward to during those depressing -40 winter weeks

Saw this on Twitter. Apparently Flames are asking people to pause a decision to cancel season tickets until August?

Sell on fansfirst.ca.
I ditched TM resale long ago.

FF doesn't have the user base required though. I had many games listed at 50% STH cost for 48 hours before the game that did not sell. They didn't sell on TM either most times.
The point remains that demand is horrible, relative to the cost of the tickets. STH cost is say 40% less than Face Value, and I recovered less than STH cost many times this year. Toronto was the only game that sold for FV. Most games which I couldn't attend, I was just praying on breaking even.
I haven't decided to renew or not yet. The biggest problem is that it took over 2 decades to get the perfect seats I have, so it's hard to let that go.

The only problem with FansFirst is that you need a Canadian card to buy there. I had to send money to a Canadian friend and ask them to buy for me when I went to the playoffs last year.
And I agree with Draug, I had never heard of that site before reading CP.

We have officially hit the 100% threshold for us at ST Holders. We have a group of 5 of us, and it works really well. We started at around $1700 for both seats in 2012 and we are at just below $3500 now. PL2 row 2. Good seats, still offer great value.
I will not renew when we get priced out in the new rink.

I encourage everyone who is on the fence to cancel.
It makes relocation selection so much better...

go.

I never had that issue. I have always been able to sell on FF. All my tickets sold that I had listed … some above cost, some below. I did keep a close eye on the prices in my section though and adjusted frequently.
Probably underwater about 10-15%. Last season, probably up the same.

I have been offered a pair of lower bowl tickets each of the last 2 seasons. Both times lesser opponents on a weekday on short notice. I have not been invited to any type of pregame account manager or GM or PHO event in probably 8 years. No season ticket holder post season event in 4 years. Somehow my price keeps going up.

I don’t understand why they wouldn’t do this more often and for everyone. There are always tons of open seats in the lower bowl. Maybe they think people will just turn around and try to sell them, but what easier way to add a perk that literally costs you nothing.
In years past I’ve seen employees go up to the nosebleeds before a game and hand out tickets to “upgrade” into the lower bowl; I’d be curious if they still do that.
I think the only event I’ve been invited to in recent years has been the viewing party / public skate at the Saddledome. My kids really enjoy going to that.

Usually an email a day or 2 before the game. I believe the email came directly from my rep but don’t quote me on that.
