It's always sunny in Philadelphia. Nothing to worry about there.

I always enjoy the self-righteousness of reporters standing in the middle of storms and shaking their fingers at others saying, "Why are these people out here ignoring authorities?"

Those reporters have what is essentially a dedicated first responder team embedded with the news crew. They can easily get themselves out of danger. Regular folk - not so much.

What I read was the US Army put this up in their site and the media et al took it and ran with it. Apparently the caption indicated it was from today but then they realised it was from last month during a more minor storm and changed the caption.

EDIT: Here's the full story.

Looks like the eye of the storm is about to make land fall according to CNN?

That may be true for some, but certainly not all.

And for those that it is true, having a first responder crew dedicated to one reporter who chooses to stay in a dangerous area is a waste of resources that could be used to help those who can't leave.

From CNN roughly about 15-20 minutes ago. These idiots were dancing in the background in the storm. The reporter had no clue. Some people make me shake my head.

It takes considerable willpower to tell myself not to wish harm on someone

Didn't say it was a non-event, I said Hurricane Irene was over-hyped, and it indeed was.

They're predicting gusts up to 100 km/h where I'm at here in Ontario. Blowing about 40 right now, nothing that bad. The only thing really that concerning is if the power goes out for a day or so when the wind and rain picks up overnight.
