Freddie Solomon passed away yesterday at age 59 after a protracted battle with cancer.

I used to have Freddie Solomon's autograph. Had almost the entire 1982 team on a game program at one time.
All that's left is a picture of me and Russ Francis.
Solomon was a good one.

Isray is on the PR tour saying that it will be Manning's choice whether or not he wants to come back to the Colts. He mixed in "if he's the Peyton of old" in his blabbering today, which makes me think more and more that he's just trying to save face with all the bad publicity he's been getting.

I saw this on the NFL network. Part of me is hoping he will sign somewhere in the division and beat the Colts for the next few years

Well there are reports saying that someone close to the Manning family says Peyton would be interested in the Texans. I don't think that interest will be reciprocated though. If Schaub is unable to return from his injury for the start of the season then it could become more of a possibility though.

Stanford Routt signs with the Chiefs. This might mean that Brandon Carr is heading to free agency, and the franchise tag is going to be on Dwayne Bowe. Routt is probably okay as a number 2 corner, got paid too much by the Raiders and didn't have Asomgua to take away half the field last year.
I think the Raiders still owe him 5 million, and the Chiefs will be paying him a 4 million bonus in March. Pretty good pay that month for a guy who's no pro bowler.

If I'm the Chiefs I sign Carr even if it means letting Bowe walk, which it shouldn't with their gawdy cap space.
I don't get the Routt signing to be honest. I think Carr is the better player.

I can't imagine they would pay Routt that kind of money and pay Carr what he'll be looking for. I'd rather keep Carr too. As much as passing put up huge numbers last year...most of the big passing numbers weren't in the AFC.
this is a great opportunity for Carr to make some serious money as the Chiefs are the team with the toughest choice of which guy to tag. If they pick Bowe, Carr will get paid whatever he wants, or wherever he wants. Maybe he'll get both.

Now the Vikings have to do some due diligence on the free agents out there. Carr, who would excel in a Cover-2 scheme, fits exactly what they are looking for but do they break the bank for a DB or for a playmaking WR?
Vincent Jackson and Brandon Carr? Boy that wold be a dream come true.

Eagles restructure Cullen Jenkins' contract to keep him on the team. I'm really happy about this. If they can get Dixon back healthy next year, that line will be even more formidable.

New era for Indy can start as soon as tomorrow.
Colts can sign Andrew Luck as early as Friday.

Hasn't this happened on numerous occasions with first overall picks? Mario Williams and David Carr both come to mind.

Jake Long singed early too. Although with the new rookie salary system, being able to sign a player for a certain dollar figure won't be the issue it was.

Dolphins win a coin flip with Carolina to get the #8 pick in the draft, and The Chiefs win the coin flip with the Seahawks to get the #11 pick. If Matt Flynn doesn't end up in Miami, I wonder if they make a move on Ryan Tannehill. The Chiefs might end up taking Trent Richardson as it's looking like he might the a candidate to fall in the draft.

I still think the Dolphins end up with Manning, draft Tannehill and also sign Wayne to help get Manning to sign with them.
