It disgusts me that they may (will) pick before us this year... That club is garbage.

I hate to mock, but this article made me laugh
Edmonton Oilers rookie defenceman Justin Schultz's plus-minus stats among the league's worst
http://www.torontosun.com/2013/04/25...-leagues-worst
Quote:
With two holes left to play, Minnesota on Friday and Vancouver Saturday, Edmonton defenceman Justin Schultz is in the running for the NHL’s Green Jacket.
Out of 828 players, the Oilers rookie has the 824th worst plus-minus in the league. He’s at 19-under, three shots off the lead held by Florida’s Erik Gudbranson (-22). Teammate Nick Schultz is -15, making the Schultz-Schultz tandem a whopping -34 combined.
|
Quote:
They point to Ottawa’s Erik Karlsson, who went from -30 to winning the Norris in one year, as evidence that baptism by fire isn’t a bad way to go.
“Justin has been going through all situations,” said head coach Ralph Krueger. “It’s about having him understand what it takes to play as a top two defenceman in the NHL, the defensive responsibility of that.

It was pretty clear when you watched EK in his first year that he was a pretty special defenseman.
Schultz had the hype crapped out of him as they worked all of the teams for offers.
And he came in at an AHL and did a good job, but once teams figured him out up here he fell apart.
He's got a long ways to go.

His outlet pass is always tape to tape.... but about 50/50 between opposition and his own guy.
Offensively, he will be very good - but I cant see him ever not giving up way more than he gets.

If you end up with a Macabe or jovonoski without spending ufa money or using a draft pick it is good management. The oilers are using him wrong but I would take schultz for free. Worst case is he turns out to be Widemen.

Dan Tencer @dantencer 5h
Ralph Krueger says that the realistic expectation for the team this year was 50-52 points with something special needed to be above that.
Really? well according to Krueger the oilers weren't far off expectations than!

Whitney leaves very frustrated. "I'm not going to name any names, but there were definitely some other guys who could have been scratched."
Sign of a frustrated player or is this a sign of something else? He's not the first oiler to voice displeasure to the press (Souray, Pronger) which is surprising in itself as you don't often hear athletes speaking out like this.

Didn't Hemsky openly complain or said he felt rushed to return from injury by the Oilers before?
