So like I said, they could still be scrapped.

The waiting game sucks. Let's play Hungry, Hungry Hippos!

all black with red outline numbers like this would be absolutely awesome! (for a third jersey)

Didn't the NHL do the Black Ice series of jerseys for a bunch of teams. Can't remember if they actually did the Flames one but found this on ebay
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/IGINLA-CALGAR...item46114e5432
Not sure I like it.

I thought about it for a bit.
A yellow jersey wouldn't be that bad IF:
1) It's Red White and Yellow only. No Black, no new colours, just the classic Flames colours.
2) Classic striping is used. It doesn't have to be the same striping pattern as the retro, but something that's timeless and classy. No piping, no weird intersecting lines, nothing weird going on.
3) No new logo is used. This should be a given
4) Flags are removed and a cool new shoulder patch is used. If they can't think of a cool shoulder patch, then leave it as is without a patch.
If the Flames are so hell bent against using the retro as our primary home, then I wouldn't mind something like this be used as a template for a future red home jersey that again does NOT include black.

Black with a black crest, outlined in red.
War paint.

These are really bad from a high camera angle you see football from...I was watching a lions game on TSN and you couldn't read a single number from a distance with these. Terrible design.

There's no way the league would approve a black-on-black uniform because it would be virtually impossible to read the names and numbers at speed (I don't know how the Lions got that one approved).
Gord Miller, who called the Stamps-Lions game where BC wore that jersey, absolutely hated them:

A day later, I'm still trying to think of a worse uniform idea than the BC Lions putting black numbers on black jerseys. White Sox shorts?
|
Going black-on-black would be an especially bad idea at the start of a major re-build when most of the fans aren't familiar with any of the players even when they can read the numbers.

Or especially good, so that it's more difficult for people to try to run some kid out of town based on a single turnover.

Mustard yellow!? Don't you mean the color of a nice 5 year aged cheddar?

I had the same thought, as I am not a fan of the black. But I mocked up a couple logos with the yellow background and some stripes to see how they looked and I think black will actually add to it.

I'm not sure why people always associate red and yellow with McDonald's. They are 2 very common colours.

I tossed some black in so we can see the difference.

for the logos, I really like the addition of the black. The stripes have potential but the striping I ised as a sample is not very good
