Cause you can trust a random part time server more than you can trust someone that is related by blood saying they are vaxxed.

Because vaccinated young players (including some with boosters as per looch) helped this so much. Ozzy's reminder above needs to be spoken way more frequently.

I'd say so. Get this over with, all at once, and now we have the most corona resistant team in the league. Preferable to a slow drip of repeatedly losing a handful of players for weeks at a time throughout the season.

If this is your take, not sure you understand Ozzy's post.

I understand Ozzy's post perfectly well thanks. And it bears repeating often as there are those that still believe vaccination is the be all end all. Common sense is still required no matter the vaccination status. Sick , Stay home. Do a test as offered for free. Or are you just triggered because you think im against vaccination.
Forget it, still not the right thread for this
One would think now that they all should essentially have increased immunity at same time, Flames could have a edge down the stretch with less distractions of other positive tests.

It's not entirely clear, but it does appear that there tends to be an individual or two that strongly infect those around them. There have been situations of these superspreader type small gatherings where one person is at the party and everyone walks away infected. Is that a high viral corsi?
The latest strain may also be a bit more effective at replicating in the upper respiratory region, and despite vaccination some people don't produce the types of antibodies (primarily IgA) that are the front-line source of defense in these areas.
So it could be a special case where you have someone who is vaccinated, but the virus is replicating in an area where it's easily aerosolized (upper airway/nasal) and there is a dearth of protection. And since omicron tends to replicate less in the lung, and combined with vaccination, the systemic symptoms remain mild or nonexistent.
In short, someone on the flames roster might inadvertently be really good at allowing the virus to replicate and spread despite their vaccination.

This is actually a good thought. A more contagious but less harmful strain may actually be a blessing in disguise as far as developing antibodies, particularly in the remaining vulnerable non vaxxed population.
Also, Calgary Flames.

Yes, the prevailing consensus is that Sutter orchestrated all of this to make sure the team would be "battle tested" going into the playoffs.
And Sutter doesn't **** around.

Didn't want to read the last few pages but what this thread has taught me is: antivax troll posts are great for finding out which users to put on ignore. Thank you!

Has it been confirmed what the timeline is going to be for players returning after positive? has there been any updates from the league into what will be a major roster issue? they only delayed one more game correct?

I assume the Flames are being tested by NHL/Flames staff, not AHS so it probably isn't added into the AHS system.

If people are experiencing mild symptoms from Omicron, a lot of cases wont even be reported.

Don't disagree, but it's still not "natural" immunity. It's because of - at least in part - exposure and - again in part - vaccination. Neither of those is "natural". But yes, the result is similar.

The privately paid for testing for the Alberta NHL clubs would be the only difference in my opinion. If there are actual positive cases of Covid and Omicron than I would assume they would be added to the total in Alberta shortly.
These are Alberta residents and the outbreak appears to have happened here so I assume it's part of the total at some point. At least that is what would make sense.
Bottom line for the NHL and for other sports this is getting out of control quick. Realistically how much of a runway does sports really have before it is getting forced?
