So is it the guns or the bags you're against?

I guess growing up in a small town means I'm probably desensitized to stuff like this. When I was a kid, "playing God" was one of my main hobbies. I'd spend lots of time in summer walking around town with my BB gun pointed up at the power lines, searching for crows, and when I was tired of that, I'd go snare some gophers.
EDIT: I should add that not once did I ever drop a crop after hitting it. I'd shoot them in the ass and they'd fly away...

Interesting. It's ok to shoot people who disagree with you, but you can't harm any other animals.
Way to completely marginalize your belief system.

Won't kill them, just hurts their feelings.

That's completely untrue.

Where did I say it's ok to shoot people? I said sometimes I feel frustrated enough that I would like to..but I don't. Don't twist my words! If someone is annoying me I do not shoot them because they are entitled to their life. So are the magpies yet you disagree because you are a human and have superior intelligence to the animal and a man made weapon to kill it. Understand this, you are an animal, the magpie is an animal, you both have the SAME right to life. Killing the magpies is no different then shooting people, just in the eyes of human lawmakers who believe that because we have come out as the most intelligent of animals we can use other animals any way we wish.

Where did you get this from? A story I relayed that took place when I was 8? Practice what you preach.

This is where I get lost with people who believe we're all equal....
They consider an animal like a cougar killiing a deer for food to be part of nature and the circle of life and all that.
But if a human kills a deer for food, then the human is being barbaric, and should be tried for murder.
They also say that humans are the only animals that kill for things other than food, when that isn't the truth.

Yet people argue we are so much more intelligent than these animals and yet we still kill animals. I have stated before, I have no problem with hunters or your choice to consume meat, go ahead. I have a problem with killing animals for sport or because they are annoying to some people. I have a problem with medical labs doing all kinds of cruel treatments to animals. I have issues with steroid induced chickens and mistreated cows waiting to be slaughtered for human consumption. I have a problem with the "barbaric" side of the way people treat animals.

Well if I seemed to be implicating you then I apologize, I do not know you well enough to make that judgement. Some of these posts I find in such poor taste by others though.

Well, you said "You disagree......" the highlighted portion in my reply, and since you were replying to me I assumed it was meant for me.
The fact is, I don't disagree with you...especially since your last post which outlined just how far your beliefs go on the issue.

Because of these experiments, you'll be able to preach from your soapbox for an extra +30 years!

I would rather not. So if it prolonged your life would you be just as ok if they used innocent children?

Call me cruel but there are certain species that I will kill if I have the chance. Magpies? Not so much. They're annoying, but they're not on my murder list. Pigeons die if they set foot on my property. Spiders lose their life when I find them inside my house. I don't have a lawn, but if I did, I'd kill any gopher that decided to borrow under it. But pigeons. Pigeons. I will kill them for fun.

So if I told you I would eat every last one of the b@$tards I "hunted" this morning then everything would be cool?

When did innocent children become the universal currency of morality?
Darwin described something called natural Selection. Human > animal is the world we live in, this isnt Noah's ark.

Nothing has a "right to life". Rights are an abstract concept, a purely human, theoretical construction and ultimately are related to the possession of power.

When is the last time that you had to resort to shooting a deer yourself to get some venison? What I have difficulties with, is watching hunting for sport. Watching some hunting videos on youtube sickens me. They just go out and kill an adult deer who was probably having a good life out there, and then lay with it as it lays in agony and bleeding to death, smiling to the camera and holding it by the antlers like they just won the Stanley Cup or something. They aren't killing that deer because they need to eat or sell it for a living, it's because it was fun and because they want a trophy for their wall. Sure, they'll get some delicious (and is it ever) deer meat out of it...but that very different and even calous regard for the life and suffering of another intelligent creature that some people have disturbs me. It makes me question their ability to feel empathy which is something I greatly value in human beings.
That said - if you recall, I'm all for the seal hunt. That's an industry and culling the herd for meat and skins for part of the livelihoods of those people. That is different from trophy hunting.
