MAYBE, the white guy in Japan is actually the guy in the present (the boogie man) who is killing the group. This could make sense as he was the one wearing the symbol PLUS Hiros' dad said he needed Ando to get hima sword, and the white guy is a sword master. So the fighting would take place in a sowrd battle of course. Also, the white guy may have some sort of power that makes him live longer, hence why Hiro was warped to the past to kill him there or prevent the white guy from gaining a very strong power in the past.

First thing I thought of when I saw the white guy as well in feudal Japan was that he was from the future as well. There has to be a good reason as to why the writers decided to make him a foreigner. The show would have alot more of a 'cool' factor if Hiro is trained by agreat Japanese warrior than by an English gent who likes to drink. Me thinks there's more to Takeo's presence in feudal Japan than what people are led to believe.
As well, I love how the show can pick random new characters from all corners of the earth. Due to the nature of the show and the atmosphere in which the characters are introduced are developed, it's interesting when new, exotic places are shown. For example, the Honduras and Ireland were involved in the show last night. I love the fact they can play almost any place into the storyline. Anyone here hoping for a hero from Canada? Or more specifically, Calgary?

The character's nationality was never discussed, but Christopher Eccleston is from England.

I thought it was Australian? I thought I remember a quick blurb about where he was from in conversation somewhere. And he was saying "mate" often times, and did sound like an Aussie (and I've spent time in Australia!)

Anyone else as disappointed in last nights episode as I was?
And I have a question about how the episode ended. My PVR didn't seem to record the full ending. I saw Clare running out onto her driveway, and I think there was a package or something laying there. What happened after that?

It wasn't the best episode I think, but it was alright. I'm hoping it starts picking up again like last season, started off slow then comes through in the clutch. Anyways, Claire ran outside and laying there was the book that Mohinder's father wrote about genetics.

I thought put into context it was a good show. It was a season opener with new characters and plotlines added and so a lot of introduction. They have shown us where the season is headed and we should expect more action/developments in the upcoming episodes. I like the new characters and see some intriguing plotlines albeit it may take some time to develop both of them.

Bah, I don't like the foreigner regenerating. I thought it would be much cooler for Hiro to take up the sword and become a badass.
I HATE the Claire storyline. The "hiding" and "wanting to be yourself" thing is getting really irrating and old. Not to mention a flying stalker. That whole part annoys me.
I hope it picks up soon, but even in season 1, it didn't pick up till around the 7th or 8th episode.

I actually thought it was a pretty good episode. Some parts were predictable, but it was interesting.

I like the Peter storyline -- I'm enjoying the mystery element of it. It looks like Sylar is back next episode as well from the previews, which could prove interesting.
I agree with the Claire storyline, its not so interesting. And I'm not really enjoying parts with the Hispanic twins either.

The tone seems off this season so far - franky it almost seems like they have a different writer doing the episode - everything feels more like "typical TV". Even the dialogue.

I am not a big fan of the two new people they introduced, the ones from Mexico or wherever it is.

The had a different writer on most episodes last year, too. Nothing's changed in that respect.
The storyline with Anglea and the previous generation of "Heroes" is the most interesting one so far IMO, followed by Mohinder and HRG's infiltration of the Company.
The show's building gradually so far, which is fine with me. If anything, the cliffhangers at the end of the episodes so far haven't approached last season's early episodes.

We met them in Honduras, but we don't know for sure where they're from yet. Who knows how long they've been running so far?

Well, the ending of the second ep kinda puts in doubt my theory that Hiro is actually the actual Takezo Kensai in the legends. Then again, it kinda opens up the possibility that the real TK may actually be the main baddie in this season, or at least a henchman of the main baddie.
