Only 4 teams in the NHL below .500.

Sabres -1
Blues -2
Preds -4
Flames -8

We also have the worse goal differential at -20.

Yes, we are that bad.

Really…I want to know, because there’s a human aspect, too. (And yes, I’ve worked for a terminal organization…accountants always are the last to go….)
Regroup over the summer, work your ass off so it doesn’t happen again. These guys are pros and pros overcome mental blocks. You’ll need to show evidence that extended losing streaks lead to permanently ending energy, creativity and joy.

Once you draft some elite talent and start actually making progress in the playoffs this will be a non issue.

Ask McKinnon if 2016 was worth it when he hoisted the Stanley Cup.

Seems to me a lot of people counting chickens before the eggs have hatched.
Only the people that think one draft pick is the silver bullet. Hopefully most are more patient than that.

I just can’t handle how the NHL awards points.

You’re all winners!

Their pts% puts them at 45 points to end the year, that’s a 4 game swing to be all time bad.

But if you read my post you’d notice I said it was unlikely it happens.

Finishing 32nd guarantees the Flames a top pick.

And besides, the young players on the team already look they are missing every ounce of joy and creativity.

I just hope McKenna produces more

His numbers are not anywhere close to Celebrini's NCAA numbers right now. And he's several months older than Celebrini was

Everyone keeps talking about McKenna though...at best is 1/4. Lets stop calling them McKenna points ect.

How about let's first get there and then figure it out.

If we finish last, the worst possible outcome is pick #3.

I am good with that outcome--- EVERY time.....rather than picking in 10-20.

It has been a common thing to refer to the race for last place using some variation on the name of the consensus first overall pick.

I can live with McKenna points but yeah some people are pencilling him into the lineup and putting him on lines with people. That might be jumping the gun.

It's not like because people on here are pulling for a high pick the players and coaches are all like... we'll I guess its OK to lose now. They are still battling they are just not a talented team.

And i don't buy that being a bad team for a couple years means everyone on the roster will be destroyed forever morale wise. The year after Florida bottomed out and got barkov in his rookie season they were still so atrocious that their leading scorer had 38 pts.

It's another thing if you are losing for a decade but 2 or 3 seasons is fine and many teams have turned it around when they've used the opportunity and actually grabbed high end talent with the picks, that'll be the key

I'm seeing a lot of good things but my competitive spirit gets crushed watching the losses pile up.
They aren't getting killed out there but they aren't talented enough to turn the tables.
I hope they can keep the watchable level of play, then make the necessary trades. After that happens, hopefully the young guys can show some flashes of talent to keep us watching.
That 2021-2022 season seems like a whole generation ago...

Really starting to worry about Zary. He's the weakest Flames forward right now IMO. Last by far in shot attempts per game.

He’ll be the first of the young guys to go up in smoke as part of this but probably won’t be the last.

4-12-2 is monumentally bad.

It'd be something out of the ordinary to see Conroy not do something in the coming weeks. GMs usually don't just 'sit there' when this sort of stuff goes on...unless it really does fall into some sort of Plan (even if it was plan "B", "C", "D", or "E")

The rest of November goes:

Sharks (8-6-3) (Away Record: 4-3-0)
Jets (9-6-0) (Away Record: 4-3-0)
@ Blackhawks (8-5-3) (Home Record: 3-2-1)
@ Sabres (5-6-4) (Home Record: 5-3-2)
Stars (10-4-3) (Away Record: 5-1-2)
@ Canucks (8-8-1) (Home Record: 3-4-1)
@ Lightning (8-5-2) (Home Record: 4-3-0)
@ Panthers (8-7-1) (Home Record: 5-1-1)
@ Hurricanes (11-5-0) (Home Record: 5-2-0)

Not the most daunting schedule, plenty of 'middle' in there, sprinkled with a bottom team (Buffalo) and some top teams (Jets, Stars, Hurricanes)
