And I didn't mention in the first post today, but should have because it seemed to be popular in the thread the other day but the Men's Volleyball Team plays Brazil at 19:30 tonight.

It'd be amazing if Canada could pull off that upset. Then we can get really excited. I believe Brazil is the #1 team.
Edit: yup, followed by Poland (reigning World Champs :P) and Russia.

It was worse the other way.

Serves that barely clip the net get whistled down. So it was either lots of points off missed serves (boring) or serves getting dialed way back. Everyone passes way too well at this level, so perfect passes lead to rallies being over immediately. Especially in indoor.

Yes, all the stadiums being used for the Olympic soccer tournament were used for the World Cup.

One problem for attendance is that most of the soccer games are being played far away from Rio. Canada's first two games were in Sao Paulo (400 km from Rio). Today's game is in Brasilia (1,200 km from Rio).

Is this Brasilia stadium the one that almost cost a billion dollars, was in the middle of no where so had to get its building materials shipped in by barge, only hosted like 4 world cup games and then was essentially abandoned afterwards?

Nice they found at least one more use for it I guess...

Interesting about the bolded part, didn't realize that. So essentially it's hockey being played with basketball rules regarding contact. Yeah that's lame.

It is, in the sense that losing probably gives them better positioning

Well I have to disagree. Having played at a high level myself using both rule sets it is extremely frustrating when a high stakes game ends on what used to be a service error. In beach I would definitely disagree that a serve with a bit taken off of it takes away from rally potential. Adding the extra threat of a service error puts more pressure on consistency and adds a bit more of a clutch element to the game. Now its just blast away and hope for the best.

As far as the indoor game is concerned that is another can of worms altogether. Missed serves account for way too many points with rally scoring. I understand most of these changes were done to speed up the game, but its taken a lot of appeal away from the game IMO.

Can the gold medal game be Canada vs USA in Women's soccer? I think Canada should be able to make one of the medal games.

Am I the only one who is extremely frustrated by the network distribution of events? Yesterday I missed the first half of the women's rugby sevens semi final because there was no clear indication of what channel it was on, and today the second half of the Canada-Germany soccer game was moved from TSN2 to TSN1.
