Going to the game tonight with a lifelong Stars fan who comes up every year for a Stars-Flames game. Need a win tonight or I'll have to hear about it all weekend.
Prediction: 4-3 Flames

Heading to the game tonight, haven't been since Oct, hope the good guys end this slump and roll through the Holiday season with a few more.

Hyperbole on both ends. Brodie hasn't been awesome during the 6 game slide but he's not nearly AHL worth either. Calm your tits.

Anyone feeling as nervous about this game as me tonight?

I can take losses, just don't like it when they come in a row like this.

As for the game I guess it's going to come down to how many defensive breakdowns the Flames have and if any of the forwards can cash in on opportunities.
Yeah, a lot is said about the Leafs giving up that pick to Boston that they used to draft Seguin, but Chiarelli's deal with the Stars looks much worse now. At least Toronto got Kessel.

Am I alone in thinking Jooris needs a bit less responsibility for the time being? He's been the de facto #2 centre for much of the last few weeks, and I think he may not be completely ready for it. I'm a fan of his, and I love the Cinderella story, but he's been thrown in at the deep end. I think he'd be really effective centering the 4th line if Stajan is out.

I'd be pretty tempted it roll out something like:

Gaudreau Monahan Hudler
Glencross Granlund Jones
Raymond Colborne Byron
Bollig Jooris Bouma <--- Bouma Stajan Jooris, if Bollig was in the pressbox.

Hudler and Gaudreau are not horrible defensively but they can't play top line guys. Who is the shutdown line?

Each of those lines has a solid defensive-minded centreman (especially if Stajan centered the 4th line). Having Monahan between Gaudreau and Hudler not only puts our best trigger man between our best playmakers, but it also puts a defensive minded player on that line to cover for the occasional giveaway from high risk passes which don't come off.

If this team is going to compete in the West then its 1st line needs to be able to function as a shutdown line when it's inevitably paired up against the other team's top lines on the road. A Gaudreau - Monahan - Hudler line ticks a lot of the boxes for me, and it's only a matter of time before we see it. Maybe once Backlund is back...

I know Monahan is good defensively. But present he's not good enough to make up for the rest of the line. Johnny doesn't need to be on the top line yet. That's what the Oilers like to do - put rookies in positions they aren't ready for yet. But more than that, the top lines of other teams are usually big. Look at Benn.
