Holy Crap. This is going to be a thing now? An out of context humorous antidote. Love the Internet.

What are you talking about. Regardless of funding, the Flames simply can't "whip up the rink" wherever they so please. A project of this magnitude will absolutely require City and government involvement, even if they aren't footing any of the bill. You can't just pop up a rink on a piece of land you bought and that's that. Municipal infrastructure is required and impacted when you put in a facility that will get this kind of use and house 20K people for events. A lot of planning needs to happen.

I'd be interested to know if the new arena will have more than one sheet of ice.

All that is true, but if you don't think this is about funding, then I don't know what to tell you.

One of the good things about the third jerseys is the alternate/shoulder logo. If they could make a modern version of the retros, and add on the new shoulder logo, I would finally buy a jersey and retire my '04 one.

It would be cool if the Flames held a contest to redesign the 3rd Jersey. Winner gets a copy of the jersey he/she designed and a pair of season tickets and a few extra perks. Cheap, involves the community, gives 3rds an upgrade.

I'm sensing a Westgarth renewal in the future. Damn... He is really not my favourite kind of hockey player.

I thought Wolf might be the replacement.

I was hoping Wolf or Van Brabant could fill Westgarth's role, but Burke is waxing lyrical about the Ivy League Sasquatch which leads me to believe he'll be back, stinking-up our general level of hockey again next season.
At least he (and ownership) can recognise how terrible Shane O'Brien is. That gives me a tiny shred of hope.

Someone on here was suggesting that Western Canada is not the best locale for Westgarth, given his marital situation or something?
Anyways, the comment if true, leads me to believe Westgarth will likely look elsewhere for a contract.
Won't be surprised to see a different player, cut from the same cloth however, signed in his stead though.

Ask them who they think the BPA is in the draft. Then ask them who they think the 2nd BPA is. Do so until you get to number 4.

Flames held a "fans name the Dome contest" when the Dome was built and the winner said the roof was shaped like a saddle, thus the Saddledome name. IIRC the winner got seasons tickets.

When Conroy was talking about the top 5 for the draft, the order in which Conroy listed them was:
1 - Ekblad
2 - Reinhart
3 - Draisaitl
4 - Bennett
5 - Ritchie
He didn't say explicitly that this was their ranking, this is just the order in which he talked about the top 5 prospects in the draft. A little surprised that they would rank Ritchie above Dal Colle.

Was there at lunch, and the two guys above pretty much covered everything.
Treliving does like to ramble on. and Burke did add his opinion on most topics; fair game as Treliving has not been here that long. Each of the speakers grateful for the turnout and the fans.
As for fan experience and music during the game, he said in TO and Vancouver, in both cases they had 250 fans come in, and they tailored the music directly to the songs suggested by said fans. If fans suggested it, they added it to the playlist. Said one of Vancouver's song that was brought in when he was there, that he says is still played every game even now, is "Obla Di Ob la Da" as that was what numerous fans suggested. He said that it's the worst song that the Beatles had done, as if it was written in a bathroom (short amount of time), but its played in Vancouver because that's what the feedback was by numerous people to add to the play list. Also, related to the number question, he said with Vancouver, that the Sedins wanted high numbers and he told them no.
