A sabres win brings them a big closer to us and makes the leafs look even worse. I'd love to see the leafs panic and make a push for Backlund from us.

What?...NOBODY...loves the Leafs

Since Toronto's hot start they're 8-8-3 and now are about to start a very tough stretch before Christmas with games against teams like SJS, BOS, LAK, STL, CHI, PIT, PHX, and DET.
Hopefully that'll tone down people holding up Toronto as some poster boy for the inefficacy of shot attempt based stats.

A lot of Canadian teams are falling back to earth this season. Only Montreal and Toronto are in the playoffs, and the Leafs are not playing good hockey right now.

I live in Edmonton and every Oilers fan I talked to today was somewhat giddy after Bryzgalov's shutout. "I think we may have turned the corner." You'd think after all these years they would learn but they never do. I think the local media here is finally catching on, though. They've been pretty hard on the Oilers lately. At least from what I've heard.

Brilliant work by the Flames to stop playing in the third and let them win 2 weeks ago. A Flames shutout might have been enough to finally push Katz over the line and make changes.
It was almost as good as a few years ago when the Flames clinched a playoff spot with a Colorado loss, so they didn't need to beat the Oilers in the last game of the season, so they phoned in the third. The Oilers won, passed Chicago in the standings, and the Hawks won the lottery and grabbed Kane first overall.

Unless MacT trades their first rounder to try and plug the leaks. Then in a perfect world Bryz goes on a 10 or 12 game tear, they sign him to an extension and then go back to sucking. They can pick 3-7th overall in the second round.

Ben Smith in a 22 shot shootout...'Hawks win the skills competition...Kane's 12 game point streak was snuffed by Lehthonen...Robidas reported to have a broken leg...not surprised, that's what it looked like when he hit the end board.

Haha I know we suck and will very likely finish last, and likely be better for it.
But it ALWAYS feels good to beat the Leafs

Isn't that like every single fan base though? you will always have a few people with that mind set. Most oilers fans know this team is far from turning the corner. Until 2 top defenders are brought in this team will go no where.

Its going to be very tough for the Oilers to crack 20 wins with their upcoming schedule and their schedule in the last half.
As much as the Oilers have their top guys with gaudy stats that they're basing the future on. But Hall is probably the sloppiest player with the puck that I've ever seen.
Its starting to look like those number 1 picks have been wasted, I have this feeling that they've created such a bad environment in Edmonton that the only way that the Halls, Eberle, RNH and Yaks will see success in this league will be with other franchises.
And other GM's are just standing by with the vasoline and Condoms waiting for Mac-T to call.
