They should hire Theo Fleury for colour commentary. It'd be entertaining if nothing else.

He was good at what he did and will be interesting to see who replaces him. In some way with him already being there Rhett makes some sense but I don't think he would be a great fit at that job.
I expect and want the local broadcast to be homers, within reason. We're fans of our team and its ok to get excited and optimistic even if somewhat unreasonable. I dont want to listen to a broadcast that consantly criticizes the team, even if they are bad. As I often tell my wife, just because you're right it doesnt mean I want to hear it. Rogers struck a very good balance IMHO

Makes you wonder if Maher is ever going to retire. Seems like he's going to be like those baseball announcers and go till he's in his 80s.

I think Peter Maher should be cloned so we can enjoy his commentary in perpetuity.

The timing seems weird. I hope this isn't one of those cases where 2 or 3 months down the road you start hearing that he is sick.

When Loubardias does the 20/20 sports update (that should run about 30 seconds) the guy takes minutes going on an on. I can't imaging him trying to cram his analysis in between whistles and slow periods in play into the 5 seconds he'll have to do it in.

Great plan, but what happens with Simmer? He "keeps his feet moving" out the door?

He had some really good insights into goltenders as well, I quite enjoyed when he was analysing things.

Also I think it's time for Maher to call it quits as well quite frankly. I am not sure why so many people ignore that his skills are deteriorating, he is not nearly as great as he once was, he is starting to go the way of Bob Cole.

This would end up driving listeners nuts:

Loved Mike Rogers, I found his commentary pretty fair and balanced. I would LOVE to hear Ryan Pinder in the colour role and eventually taking over for Maher. Heard him call Heat games and he's awesome.

Not to be a downer, but I'm not a fan of Brent Krahn on the radio. Seems like a great guy, but I can't listen to him for very long.

Pinder is awesome. I liked when he was with the Heat and would come on the Fan and do interviews. If they could get rid of the clowns in the morning and give him the morning show I'd be very happy. He has the knowledge and personality to run his own show.

As far as a new colour guy I'd go with someone exactly like Mike Rogers, he was pretty good.
