Hate it when people feel the need to prove they have a penis by attempting to crush your hand. Just a nice firm grip is sufficient.
Even worse is the limp fish hand rub when they put their hand in yours and then limply pull their hand through yours, basically wiping their hand on you.
They should teach people how to shake hands properly in school.
As a female there's nothing I hate more than shaking another female's hand (or even a limp-wristed fellow's!) and initiating all the firmness. Grow a pair and shake my hand properly, dammit! :P
The vast majority of females do have a hard time with the concept. They give you their hand like they are doing you a favor, not like the sign of mutual respect and friendliness it is.

I suppose a case could be made for temporarily suspending handshakes during an epidemic, or in the event of illness.
I recall going into an office one day and shaking a persons hand. The person then said, "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have shaken your hand. Please wash your hands immediately, as I have just come back from the Orient and am carrying a single celled organism in my blood that can be transferred to others".
Voted no.
Too many people are disgusting pigs.
I'm glad I don't live/work in the kiss ass world of corporate sales, these guys will shake anything that moves.
I have pretty sweaty hands usually, so I always kind of dread handshakes, but I've worked hard on my outer-cup-firm-handshake method. I try only let the outside part of my hands touch the other person so that my sweaty palm is held back a bit, yet still put some force into it so it doesn't just reek of a lack of confidence limp handshake.
Sometimes my hands aren't bad, sometimes they're kind of gross. I always feel bad for the recipients of the gross ones as I watch them pretend that nothing happened.

That was kind of a scary experience.
We did that when I was coaching minor soccer, no more handshakes at the end of games during some health scare.
That was absolutely weaksauce and I was one of the big proponents of bringing it back once whatever 'epidemic' it was, was over.
Shaking hands is no big deal, and if it causes you that much anxiety in terms of overall health then take steps to mitigate it.

You clearly love shaking men's body parts and that's fine. It's just a little weird to me that in 2012 I'd be creating a socially awkward situation if I didn't want to take your bare hand in mine and give it a couple tugs just because you wanted me to.

I think you're confusing your sex life with an informal greeting between two consenting adults.
I have a bigger problem with handles on bathroom doors then handshakes. All doors into washrooms should be automatic to some extent.
They should make it law that all washrooms with doors have paper towel dispensors... and the smart thing would be to put a paper waste basket next to the door or you run the chance of having a huge pile of used paper towels thrown into the corner beside said door.
