Yep, one of the best salesmen I ever worked with had a great saying "You can't drive a spec sheet."
A lot of the younger crowd base their decisions on stats. They come in chiming off 0-60 times, top speed, tech tidbits. Older mature buyers were more in it for the visceral elements. Feel, touch, sound, driving 'experience'. With the ridiculous performance numbers on cars nowadays, nothing you can buy is slow. Bloody minivans and half tons would waste most performance cars from the 70's and 80's.

Wow... lots of Porche guys here.
Now I feel like the weirdo. I've always loved the Testarossa. That one is a bucket list one for me if I want an exotic. I don't know why, I had a model of it and I guess I studied the curves and whatnot on it and I especially loved those lines on the side.

Agreed. You can't put a spec on how a car feels. For example I think the first 2 generations of Golf GTI are far superior to the mk4 and mk5 . I can't explain why, the newer ones are faster but lack that same sense of urgency and determination

Another amazing cokehead car. When I was 5 or 6, my parents bought me a remote control Testarossa (this was in the mid/late 80s). It was probably my first dream car, and has been on the "list" since.

Actually my obsession with the GT-R has a lot to do with my dad owning Nissan Maximas and Altimas my whole childhood. He still owns an '06 Altima SE-R that he modded to the nines that's now rusting away on the street.
You know what my actual dream car to own would be? One of the first I'd buy if money was no object? This bad boy:
That's Vinces Maxima from the original Fast & the Furious movie. Yeah that specific car apparently only had 260 whp and runs a mediocre 14 second 1/4 mile (all that power to the front wheels with no compensation LOL) but damn it I LOVED that car when I was in the 6th grade. My dad had the same one so seeing it modded like that on the big screen as a kid was something I'll never forget.

I think the current GT-R will be an icon for years to come, and hold its value quite well. Like the NSX, it is a statement...a no compromise, engineering tour de force intended to showcase to the world that its manufacturer can compete in the highest echelon. Only thing it missing is the Senna cache that the NSX carries to this day.
Both definately would have a place in my dream car garage....along with perhaps unmolested examples of the 1991-93 MR2'S (owned a 91 turbo that i regret selling to this day - damn you kids, new house), 93-95 Supra Turbo, 300ZX TT, and RX7 TT. Just something about forced induction I guess..lol.

The GT-R is an engineering marvel no doubt, but I can't bring myself to like thing. To me, it looks like a fat bloated pig, and has none of the beauty and grace of the NSX (or the understate quality of the Skylines before it). The GT-R just comes across as a Walmart special...lots of quantity, not a ton of quality. The whole video-game-on-wheels vibe about it just doesn't appeal to me whatsoever.
Having said, Im sure it's a future classic....to all the kids who can't drive a stick.

Currently, a MKVI Golf R.
Had a MKIV R32, (turbo'd) and my god do I miss it. This may be bold, but I think the MKIV R32, is the 993TT, of the VW brand.

If only Vince lengthened the injector pulse another millisecond and tuned the NOS time and he would have ran nines.
I'm also a nissan fan-boy i guess:
G37
Armada
Impreza (yay! not a nissan)

Not having kids definitely helps. Also, don't buy new - let someone else take the depreciation, and buy a used, low KM example. By 37,xxx KM, all the crap that goes wrong on these Astons has gone wrong largely, and you get a properly working car... except for my haunted driver's side wing mirror when you use the memory button, but eh.

I dont recall seeing any Flames car flags....por que TorqueDog.....por que?

^ Meh, that ass needs to lose a few pounds. It looks like a chunky Cobalt.
Speaking of chunky, saw an interesting car at Cars and Coffee yesterday. Amongst the throngs of Ferraris and Porsches (which can get kind of boring I think) there was a Lambo LM002 amongst the crowd. These things are really rare, only a little over 300 ever produced.

Already leaking fluids?

This thing would be pretty bad-ass with some Flames flags.

I actually agree with Table 5 and highly dislike the look of the current GT-R and the similar profile on Nissan's cars from the Z to Maxima. I was a huge Datsun Fairlady Z, 300ZX, Skyline, and Silvia fan in my highschool days but stopped being a fan when they went to the bulky porsche look. The rear looks like a Corvette that over-ate and it's just not pretty to me. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

The guy who owns this one must have one of the most insane car collections Ive ever seen anywhere. Once a year he opens up his warehouse(s) for charity, and I had a chance to attend last year, and he has cars in there I never even knew existed in Calgary (or even Canada). Easily 200 in that collection, and almost all of them a showstopper with amazing provenance.

Bought a new car and picked it up this past Friday.
2009 Aston Martin Vantage. Car is Jubilee Blue metallic (non-production color), with a Caspian Blue and Sandstorm leather interior.
4.7L V8, SportShift computer-shifted single-clutch 6-speed manual transmission.
Some photos.

I've always liked the idea of getting a "go fast car" but for some reason the Ferrari and Porsche look just don’t do it for me. If I had the choice I would take a Dodge Viper or Corvette but unfortunately unlike 95% of the CPers on here my modest earnings only allow me to drive a F150 and Tahoe…
