I've been a part of this board for many years. I rarely post. I have learned many things like never name yourself after a coach. I have enjoyed reading things in the past. Just like the rest of the world the idea of what is right or wrong has become so hazy that there is no set limits either way.

This forum used be very mature in the manner in which people addressed each other. There were the odd fracas, the odd fata as it were, but never anything like this.

There was a real desire that this place wouldn't become HF. I am no expert but it sure seems like it is headed that way, no disrespect. At the risk of being slammed, the way that posters attack the Edmonton Oilers on here now is exactly how the fans of the Oilers used to be called out for slamming the Flames. I find that very sad, this used to be a fairly mature forum that way.

I have never seen so much attention and work attached to one individual directly or indirectly. People can't just agree to disagree, people can't just respect each other and go on with life. I don't know if that is a reflection on how the frustration has mounted on the forum towards this current season or a reflection on the society as a whole.

I mean nothing but respect, I have always appreciated all the information, good and bad, and the resources found here.

Not to long ago, the Alberta Reddit group decided to ban Twitter posts because one specific user was spamming the community relentlessly and it was one of the best decisions ever. Content and comments are definitely down a bit but that decrease largely represents garbage posts so the decrease is not concerning.

Once he's ignored and becomes a liability, he will probably be booted. But as long as he brings eyes to the board, he'll have to really go over the line to get banned. So once again, for the love of ####ing God, just ignore him and his boilerplate right wing grift posts. I promise you it's not only easy, but incredibly rewarding.
I give Bingo and the mods more credit than that. At least from my personal experience. I used to dance on the edge of what's allowed more often than I do now. A lot of the things I said would drive discussion - and in my opinion, made things more fun - and believe me, there wasn't a lot of hesitation to drop the ban hammer. I do believe they place their standards above traffic.

I miss that Sliver.

Holy crap, I would love this. People who post tweets are beyond annoying.

Ah don't be so surprised. The internet is a very different place than it was 10-15 years ago. The downward trend of etiquette, trolling and general chicanery marches on, and should be a surprise to no one.

CP isn't any different - the style of online engagement is.

Seize the day!

I'm not attacking Dion. I'm a Dion supporter. That was just a friendly joke that I hope he would get from the fact that I thank those posts. I listed him as one of my favorite members in another thread.

Banning Tweets is a half measure, you can always just screencap tweets and post images instead.

I don't mind people posting tweets, or links, or YouTube videos etc. It's just content for discussion. The whole point as I see it is to share that content with a smaller community here for the kind of discussion that you can't generally get in Twitter replies, YouTube comments etc.

The guy there was the left/NDP version of Yoho and it was polluting the community and dealt with nicely especially considering that the group/moderation team there is quite left leaning. I wasn't expecting them to muzzle one of their own but it was definitely needed.

That's a pretty ban-happy group of mods, too. Temp bans, at least.

Nobody is worse than that ####-face self-promotor CrackMacs, though. I hate that POS and everything they say is moronic and self serving. Just a tit through and through. Was banned by him on another subreddit. He mods a ton of subs.

Probably more effort than they’d want to put in screenshotting, putting on imgur, etc.

If people really want long form discussion then banning images from political threads would be the way to go.

The gear grinder thread is always the best, and it rarely has any images.

No, I like when you do.

For real, though, it's a tweet by itself I typically don't like. A tweet with commentary by a poster is 100% okay, but that's just me. Don't change yourself on my behalf. It's not that big of a deal and the more posts on CP the better. It's always a downer when conversation slows and you're in a chatty mood.

CrackMacs can go suck an egg.
Building your platform based on making fun of the unhoused is so gross.

Banning tweets sounds really dumb. The Ukraine alone thread is full of very useful and informative tweets.

Almost all the sports/hockey threads have them.

Does CrackMacs work a real job, or does he just do internet stuff for clicks?

Not banning tweets altogether, just banning them from the Alberta, American and Canada politics thread.
