but it's just not the same. although, yes, the city of LA and Anaheim are amazing and much cooler than visiting Winnipeg.
Very few people are only going to be wearing white t-shirts. If social media pics are any indication, people are going to be wearing white Tivex suits, face paint, white wigs, costumes, white cowboy hats, etc. It's going to look nothing like what they have in Pittsburgh and Arizona.
I've never heard of an event that has been this widely anticipated in Winnipeg.
Well, there was that time that Burton Cummings was rumoured to be having lunch down at the local Dennys.

I really, really don't like the Ducks, especially now that Kesler has joined that pile of crap. Please Jets, show them what a Canadian white out is and buried those quacks.

According to twitter, all fans in attendance are getting towels

I like that idea.
I was hoping pom-poms, simply because I don't want the whiteout to look like Vancouver in the playoffs, but what the hell...

Never liked the white towel. I understand the origin with Roger Neilson, but he was saying "OK refs, I give up". A sarcastic protest, for which he was duly fined.
Now whole arenas say "we proudly give up".

So it's a "white out" in Winnipeg today? Is that why Evander Kane was traded?
On a serious note, GO JETS GO! The longer this series drags out the better if the Flames make it to the next round

Surrender towels are a Vancouver thing. Lame.
Anyway, fun to see how the media is retconning Winnipeg's history. Geno Reda ending That's Hockey: "When Winnipeg had the original Jets, attendance was never a problem. Which is why they had to get a team back there." Uhh, Gino, Winnipeg Arena being a hole and the team being awful may have played a big role in it, but attendance was one of the major reasons why the original Jets left

Haha, you'll have to do better than that, Resurrection. I'm actually looking forward to how Winnipeg handles the start of this game. But like it or not, towels are stupid.
What is truly mindboggling here is that Rogers isn't putting the Jets game on CBC. That is just dumb, in my view.

Happy for Winnipeg, I'm sure they'll blow the roof off that place. The Jets play a respectable game and I'd love to see them come back to take out the Ducks.
That said, the towels are the lamest thing in the world. It literally means "I quit".

I was talking more about your interjection about why the Jets 1.0 left Winnipeg. What does that really serve to accomplish other than try to rile up Jets fans?
I would have preferred pom poms over towels but, in the end, the fans will bring the noise and the white. That's what matters.

it will be cool to see the atmosphere at MTS and i'll be tuning in. it's good for Winnipeg to get this, the long time fans deserve it. but that team doesn't seem to have the extra gear for playoffs or big game players to make things happen, their only proven guys Ladd and Little are past their best before dates to be those guys, and Buff can't do it on his own. Jets fans and people around the league were getting ahead of themselves saying the Ducks would be a realistic upset. the Ducks do not lose close games, and the Jets let close games slip away too often. they just aren't good enough late in games to close them out. Jets fan have been annoying lately too so I don't mind the first round exit, which it looks to be. at least they get a taste of playoffs and next time will come in a little more humble.

I recall the corporate sponsorship wasn't there, the arena wasn't an NHL arena - just over 15K (which made decent attendance impossible). It also had zero suites. The team had one good year IMO. But they were in a tough division.

Hoping to hear another loud and awesome Canadian building. The dome nearly blew the roof off last night after 6 years...I can't imagine what it will be like in WPG after 19.
Make Canada proud

Wow, the crowd looks awesome on TV right now, already sounding crazy loud and its just warm-ups.
Going to be a special night in Winnipeg.

I never understood the mellow music in the videos these arena staff insist on playing. Play something to pump up the crowd ... get them going 10 minutes early.
