I may get the game this year. I've heard too many good things about it. And I only really get into baseball in October. And even then I don't watch a full game.
Here is a tip for those playing 09 that a buddy and I swear by. Don't do the "guess pitch" thing. My batting avg. in pro mode went from .100 ish to .220
I bought my PS3 purely for the Sports games - with The Show being the deciding factor. It's so real that it'll piss you off.....there is ZERO arcade to this game. No fluke dingers, no easy stolen bases.....you earn everything. You will learn just how incredible a .285 hitter really is.
In all fairness, I think you've gotta be a real baseball nut to thrive with the game. It isn't quite a 'Sit around with your buddies and some beers' kind of experience that you'll get with MLB2K10. It's a pretty serious game, and a passion for baseball really helps!
It is such a ridiculous true-to-life representation of MLB that if someone made a Hockey game at this level, Canada would likely shutdown from a lack of available manpower.
Edit: Forgot to mention.....played The Show '09.....actually know what I'm talking about!

Nothing against the MVP franchise but I never saw the hype (probably because of the MVP 2004 left handed top spin hitting glitch). I am excited for this game and will be getting a PS3 on the weekend. Also partially because I want a Blu-ray player. Even have unlockable classic fields apparently in this edition.

I remember playing as the Phillies and this massive guy (who had to be the biggest in the game - 4th batter) would step up to the plate. Can't remember who he was representing from the league, I don't think it was Kruk but the Phillies catcher at that time?...Great game.

Yes Daulton, I was figuring Dalton but then again I just saw Roadhouse not too long ago. I remember Daulton being a slugger, Griffey, Fred McGriff, and David Justice. Those guys really cranked the ball.
I almost forgot that I have MLB 09. Same story with me, could not get any wins and just didn't have the time to make it past the learning curve.
This series is humbling. I have had good success playing on All-Star (the middle of 5 difficulties for those not in the know) with many of the hitting sliders jacked up for me, and slightly lowered for the CPU. Like I said, humbling, but man is it fun!
Tomorrow is the release date. Stoked and can't wait to get it. Anyone else getting this tomorrow?

Definitely, 09 was the best sports game I've ever played. The problem with most sports games is that they become too easy once you figure out the CPU, and at that point playing an offline franchise or a be the pro mode becomes kind of boring, but the great thing about the show is how challenging it is. I'd much rather struggle through a season than win 70+ games in NHL 10.
would love to hear some early feedback on this game. i am interested in getting it, but if its as hard as last year, i might not. i am all for a challenge in the game, but man i was AWFUL in 09!
