Second vote for Chloe. IMO, 24 is so full so stereotypes that a character like Chloe is very refreshing

Edit: On second thought, she is kind of a cliche too, but she's still awesome in my books

Chloe's quirky charactor would be missed.
This new boss of hers the actor is not convincing for his position at all. Horrible acting. He is more suited for a fly by night Income Tax Kiosk.

Oh and it is being widely speculated that this will be the final season for 24 as well. There are no contracts on either side to go beyond this one...Fox has suggested they dont want to re-new and its unlikely any other networks would be interested either.

this show would be even more awesome though if it was picked up by a cable station like HBO or Showtime...they could do so much more than the restrictive FCC regulations that throttle the current version.

Yes. An HBO or Showtime pickup would be all kinds of awesome.

Watched it last night, and liked the start. It's funny how you know the nice idyllic start for Jack is going to last for all of ten seconds before machine gun toting baddies start chasing him. With that said Jack still doesn't take any which is awesome. Director tried to make Jack dance to his tune and Jack basically pulled out his manliness and slapped him with it. Can't wait for the next two episodes tonight, should be awesome.

Wierd, I ready pretty much the oppposite, while they aren't under contract for another year, Keefer said he loves to do the show and will continue to do so until fox stops it...

And as if Fox will stop 24, it still gets good ratings (I think)...

Why would they not renew 24? That's horrible news.

The show is like house... kind of repetitive and predictable, but has too much awesome to stop watching. I can always rely on those two shows to keep me entertained...

I was positive that they had a contract signed until at least season 10.

Tough call. Although its the most anticpated (and only regular) show we watch year in and year out for the past few years and would still watch it, the scenarios are starting to get somewhat repetitve in general nature.

More clearly, I mean there's been so many shocking twists and turns in the past years (a nuclear bomb went off in LA, Whitehouse hostage situation, Jack dying of a biological weapon etc), its going to be tough to have the same impact/shock value with viewers who have watched the first 7 seasons. Is the show on decline? I'd say no, it proabably not, but I don't think it has a long life line even if it makes it past this year.

Also, its almost impossible to syndicate the show given its format, which works against it from all sorts of angles, including the network. Add to that, it costs a fair bit obviously to produce, given its movie like special effects, and again, the envelope has to keep getting pushed further and further to keep people from saying "Oh, I saw that firey car bomb and shocking plot twist in season 4 already".

As for going somewhere else for less stringent FCC regulations, not sure if that's going to do a lot for the show other then "T&A" it up a bit. The writers over the years have done a pretty good job in giving viewers the building up the drama and showing the necessary gory/uncomfortable details (while giving people the sense of the stuff that they can't show), and showing much of it anyways.

The lack of showing more detailed torturing or not incoporating sex scenes into a 24 hr "season", or not trying to pump up the language with using F-bombs all over the place, has or would make the current or previous 24 storylines any better, and IMO, that's all that HBO/Showtime would do to it.

I fully agree with you Browna.

I also don't think Kiefer would be involved in any sex scenes or anything like that. Although some naked women wouldn't be bad formula along with explosions and killing...

I think the point is that HBO/Showtime would be a bit more realistic.

Jack Bauer has been stopping high-ranking terrorist plots of the most savage degree for at least the last eight years... and not once has anyone said anything worse than "damn!" along the way?

It's not about lacing it with f-bombs and T&A... it's about showing me something with realistic human dialogue, so that I can actually relate it to a real-world setting.

Finally get to see Mandy naked if it went to HBO

Also, no more jumping from 12:46:53 to 12:52:41/42/43 would actually get our full hour

I thought they killed Mandy, and if they did, I'm not so sure her naked would boost any part of the show.

I don't think it could hurt the ratings

They didn't kill her.

Mandy is a fictional character, played by Mia Kirshner, on the television series 24. She is a terrorist and a professional assassin, and is notable for being the only longtime antagonist of the series to remain alive, as of the end of Day 4 (the last time she was seen).

Quite possibly the greatest episode of the series. When the writers made Jack do Chapelle it was one of the most shocking moments I had ever witnessed in a TV series. I remember the entire episode thinking this can't happen....he's not going to do it....somebody will save him from it...and then when the season ended and he broke down...pure genius.

By far my favorite season.

I love the show.

I think Hastings will go down and Bauer will be tabbed to lead CTU. That's my guess.

It looks like a very real possibility that this will be the final season of 24. FOX Entertainment President Kevin Reilly noted that season eight is the last season under the network’s current contract. He said, “There are a lot of moving parts, so we’re not sure what will happen after that.”

It does get decent ratings....but it the most expensive weekly show on TV to produce to begin with.

Last nights debut did pretty well....

Quote:
Leading out of a lukewarm premiere for “Human Target” (10.1 million viewers, 2.9 adults 18-49 rating), the two-hour “24″ posted a 3.9 with 11.4 million viewers. “24″ generally held up from start-to-finish, although it would not be unexpected for the show to take a minor ratings dip as it settles into its regular Monday night timeslot.
