So, both of my infractions never expire, but they don't have any points either.

What does that mean? Simply just a 'warning'....and a reference point to look at in the future?

The first one was from 05/06, when I made fun of a Ducks fan. I was proud.

Yes, yellow and 0 points indicate warnings.

So obviously from before Jiri and I joined the mod team.

Jiri is usually to blame for everything. Just saying.

I got one for baiting Calgaryborn and another for being crude. I can't remember what I said that was so crude but I remember that it was appropriate for the OT board but not for the F&I board, which was where I posted it. I also remember thinking to myself "I'm probably going to get an infraction for this," just before hitting submit.

I get them for dodging the swear filter.

I agree with kermitology. And I would like to say that "disemvoweling" is now, officially, the coolest word in the English language.

Jiri gives the best explanations.

Reason: Let's not make this a battle of who can be more crude please

Hrm.. I think I've probably gotten away with a few things. Perhaps in light of other contributions to the board the mods have turned a blind eye when I have a momentary loss of discretion.

Reason: Don't ask for links 1 / Never
Reason: Grow up 1 / Never
Reason: Not funny 1 / Never

I was surprised with the grow up one since i basically agreed with a guy when he said something that was somewhat funny, and i knew the Not FUnny one was coming when I saw that my post was edited...

Question, what do the points mean, or is there an explanation somewhere?

Points really don't mean much at this point, minimum is 1, though we are starting to give 0 point ones which are basically warnings.

Or if you do something really bad like post an illegal link, you might get 5 points.

How many points do you need before you get punished?
Or are infractions like a track record of your warnings and such, and the rule that you broke means you get banned and not your point total?

Infractions are basically a track record, a way for us to keep track of who's doing what, there's just too many people to keep it all in our heads.

So there's no real rule of how many points, it's more a case of when a mod gives an infraction and they notice the person has a bunch of them, they might take some time to look at the history, and if it's serious enough bring it up, the mods will all discuss it and we'll decide on any additional actions to take.

Do mods have meetings? Like in a shady back alley somewhere over cigars, cognac and illegal cockfights while they discuss a poster's various infractions?

Jiri: "Poster X has too many infractions, if Noodles the Rooster wins his last 3 bouts we'll let the poster off the hook, if not I'm banning his ass."
