I hope if Johnny signs with Philly or anywhere other than Calgary that at least it's for a big AAV... I mean it'll still suck for him to go but would suck a lot more if he signs at like $8mil/yr elsewhere with the rumors the Flames are offering $10+ & 8yrs.

I'd imagine the Flyers were always going to buy out Lindblom, whether they sign Gaudreau or not

Yeah, and remember, today is the last day they could do this. It shouldn't be looked at as some sort of wink-wink signal to Johnny. This is when they had to do this.

Is it an overreaction?
We now know the Flyers can make a really good offer to Gaudreau if they want to.
The promise of them not having space which we hoped for is gone.
That doesn't mean he'll definitely sign there but it puts them solidly into the mix, so we can at least react appropriately to that.
Facts right now are that Philly, Jersey and potentially others can make Johnny 11M+ offers. React appropriately to that.
