Again you are looking at salary not cap hit.

Cap hit doesn't change over the life of contract (unless in very special cases).

Sureloss...some of the elements of SalCap, like how retained portions work, are, and will always be, a mystery to this old man!

Edit....I was quoting the "Cap Hit" column of that page, they have $1.427million

Oh there are 2 cap hit columns the 2nd one is prorated for what is left in this current season.

Cap number/first column is the full year cap hit for this year and next.

Heh...as I said, much mystery to me...many Chicago fan hopes for Scuderi, waived to the Rock for another $950k in cap savings, or even better, claimed, for even more cap savings...we have two NHL ready D-men at the Rock, Gustafsson and Svedberg that deserve an extended look at the top level.

I frankly was annoyed that the 'Hawks took salary back on the Sharp deal...it was gonna be a cap dump move, and Garbutt and Daley, with their salaries was a poor return, with little hope of "fitting in" to the Blackhawk system...a mid round future pick or two would have made better sense to this fan. Trying to get "value" for an obvious cap dump was, IMO, an error by StanBo.

There was talk a while ago that Daley wasn't being fully utilized in Chicago and they could get someone cheaper to play the same minutes. Now they have Scuderi who is more than capable of filling the 4/5 spot for 1 mill cheaper. Makes sense for both sides as Pitts gets arguably an upgrade on D if they need someone to take bigger minutes.

Smart trade for PITT, they need offense more than anything right now. It'l give Sullivan some good deployment options with Daley, Letang and whoever else has offensive upside on their back end.

At the very least, Daley's presence should at least lighten the focus on Letang and get him rolling .
