Happy to be a Flame.
Doesn't care about the Boston rumors.
Loves the youth of the team.
Had a good chat with Hartley.
Gio, Brodie, Wotherspoon all called Hamilton once the trade was done.

He wants to keep getting better as a player.
Looking forward to getting here, meeting the players - seeing the City.
Likes the fact that this is a young team on the upswing.
Has spoken to Coach Hartley and looks forward to playing under him.
Gio, Brodie and Wotherspoon have all been in contact with him - welcoming him to the Flames. He knows Wotherspoon from World Jrs.

I just tuned in. Only thing I really caught:
Giordano Brodie and Wotherspoon contacted him after the trade. Talks about Wotherspoon as a friend from the World Juniors.

Well he's only 22. Gaudreau was a very quiet guy at the beginning of the year but by the end of this year he has been more comfortable talking to the media.

Ummm... what a great fricken contract. Seriously Boston? You couldn't afford $5.75m AAV?
Knocking on a lot of wood here, but if Hamilton plays half as good as he's capable of we've seen one of the steals of the century.

it again re-iterated just how young he really is for me.
I wish i knew more about him as a player. All i know is that he was the leaf's 2nd first round pick given to the bruins, he's really big, and that it always annoyed me that everyone called him "dougie hamilton".
Think i need to go watch some bruin games to understand how he plays.

Dougie is big and strong D-man, but not yet overly physical - that will still come.
He has a brother (Freddie) one year older who also plays in the NHL for the Avalanche.
Both his parents are former Canadian Olympians -his dad Doug was a rower for Canada in the '84 Olympics and his mom - Lynn was on the Canadian women's basketball team in the '84 Olympics. So some good pedigree for sure.

Late to the party...
First of all, absolutely fantastic trade getting a potential core piece like Hamilton without having to give up anything but picks - and only one first. Suddenly, the young core is really starting to come together.
As for the signing, could have lived with a 7 handle, but that would have taken a bit of the shine off. High 6s would have been good. Low 6s would have been great.
Getting Hamilton for picks and then getting him locked up for under 6 per is an absolute, indisputable home run.
We have been waiting and waiting for Treliving to put his first real stamps on the team. Well, I think we all agree on how he is doing at this point!

Maybe not the right thread for it, but now that we have Hamilton, I think it solidifies the D to such an extent that we now look to see if we can get a top 6 forward that would put us over the top.
Disappointed that Dubnyk is off the table, but there should still be some options available in net as well.
