Good luck, party chat has essentially ruined communicating via xbox live.
It is nice to have have (party chat), but it makes all team based games just unusable and broken. That is one of the reasons why I loved Infinity Ward's idea to make their team deathmatch games non-party chat ONLY.
But, just plug it in and people should hear you, you hear them.
Unless you have PS3, the last time I tried connecting my bluetooth headset it was a pain.

Ya, the language is beyond anything I've ever heard in a video game and (imo) waaaaaay over the top. Imagine my surprise when a deputy referred to those "####ing funts".....while the 8 year old was walking through the living room. I don't mind (and can even kind of understand) the occasional f-bomb, but the language in RDR is pretty outrageous.

Play Splintercell, everytime an enemy is startled in the slightest "MOTHERF*****!!, GET OUT HERE P**** YOU DON'T SCARE ME".
Although it is quite hilarious I find. During one session of Hunter (about an hour long) you'll hear the f-bomb like 40 times.

try watching Deadwood. i think it may be an attempt to make the setting more "historically accurate"
but wait a sec. you're playing a game where you can murder anyone you please, drag innocent people around behind you on a horse, then tie them up and let them get run over by a train, but the language is what you have an issue with?

Ya ya, I hear what you're saying. I agree that the the language is, perhaps, an attempt to be historically accurate (love Deadwood btw, even paid money for it, lol), but I suspect its more about the shock value.
I'm not particularly naive, and I had a pretty good idea what the game would be like.....which is why the little one isn't allowed to play RDR. But the language was something I wasn't really expecting, especially the quantity and ferociousness of the cursing. Dunno.....I understand that language (like graphics, story and a good AI) add depth to a gaming experience, but frankly, I don't think that level of cursing really adds anything of value to the game. If anything, I find it more of a detriment than a benefit.

This is a common argument among the older crowd, and I mean older.

Games have ratings for a reason. I really don't see your issue.

Damn you guys, this thread and this game.
Broke down today and paid about $470 USD for a ps3 150gig, and the game.
I'm sure it will be worth it

I hate Rockstar games and I'm seriously considering picking it up. Gotta justify the purchase of my PS3 I suppose (so far only used it to play a couple downloaded movies and Mega Man 10).
Decent review of it: http://www.thereviewcrew.com/reviews...ad-redemption/

I must be getting desensitized because I don't find the cursing all that bad. Yeah they drop the f-bomb and c-bomb from time to time, but I don't find it all that frequent. Or maybe I'm just not listening to the background chatter carefully enough.

That guy annoys me so much that I waited until I was heads up with him before getting caught cheating on purpose just so I could take him out in a duel and not have to listen to him at the table anymore.
Unfortunately he was back the very next time.

This thread is killing me, i picked up RDR the day it came out threw it in the xbox and bam within 2 minutes of the opening scene 3 red lights. Apparently i got pretty lucky tho as the manufacturers date was June 10, 2007 so i just barely made the 3 years. I don't even think they bother trying to fix them as the same day my xbox made it there i received an email saying they shipped me one. hopefully it comes soon ive been dying to do some bear punchin

so i haven't really been focusing on it, but i am to the point where i need to knife kill a couple cougars. however, the couple times i randomly find some (while doing other things) they will attack me, i use medicine to heal, then i manage to knife them when they charge me again, but the 1 knife strike isn't enough to kill them, and instead of staying and fighting, they run off pretty darn fast into the distance. i am unable to catch them. has anyone had this problem? it might just be coincidence as i have only had a couple encounters, but wasn't sure if i was going to have to get lucky enough for a 1 strike kill or not.
thoughts?
