I am getting pretty excited about Parekh. He’s didn’t show up on the scoresheet, but you can see why he’s hyped as he is. It feels like watching Wolf last year and Gaudreau before that. Tremendous talent.

After watching Parekh with Bahl I hope I get to wake up tomorrow to news of Andersson being traded. We have a number of young D that need spots. Time to move him out.

Kerins is a guy who seems to just get better and better each year. True growth and adaption to better leagues. Similar to weegar journey to the nhl.

He speed is such he can get back and defend too, wasn't expecting that...the offense is off the charts

Been saying it all summer that he needs to go before the season starts.

Brzustewicz looking good so far and could push to make the team.

I still think Kuznetsov deserves a crack.

We can sit Bean, Pachal or Hanley but my concern is Ras ice should dip from his 24 a night. His value isn't going up IMO.

Interesting night for all the right players.

I think Morton is convincingly ahead of Kirkland for that fourth line role.

Can Kerins keep this up with more vets on the roster (both ways)? He looks better. Not suited for a fourth line role, but maybe he sticks as the 13th forward?

I thought Kuznetsov was the best of the young D looking for that third pairing spot.

Parekh was great on the powerplay and will clearly make it.

Honzek with a way better third period.

The youngsters are looking very good and if they keep this up Conroy might have to jettison some players he wasn’t planning on to find room for them.

He was great on the powerplay and he made his usual nice passes. But mostly he was very responsible defensively. I think that with vets like him you don't really look at preseason anyway.

Kerins seemed to have great chemistry with Zary.

I thought Frost was lights out in all three zones.

Let's hope this season is his breakout. He looked a step above all the centers positionally.

I know championships are never won in the preseason (unless you are the Oilers), but this year, the flames look noticeably more faster in all areas. For the first time in a long time, the things were were deficient in seemed to have been worked on by not only the coaching staff, but also the players in getting bigger and faster in the offseason. Small sample size, for sure, but the power play looks noticeably better, the PK taking a different approach looks solid, and the breakouts and speed look great. Perhaps the biggest the excitement comes from the ones we all knew we needed more goals from (Frost, Farabee, Sharangovich) have all started the preason solid by getting on the scoresheet and looking like they are making strides. Yes, it is preason, but getting that small dose of confidence can springboard you when the games mean something. Been exciting so far

I think coming to Calgary really upped the defensive side of his game. I did think he was getting a call on his hit on Canton tho. Dude got pasted. I know last year the joke was huberdeau I'd now a power forward but Im starting to believe it. His defensive game has made majour strides. I counted 4 hits tonight that were " yup that hurt, he's going to rethink entry next time ".

The problem is huberdeau was pointing so many points up. Now that he has to play more defensive ppl are like out cute he got a few points. Not looking at his play away from pucks. I thought he was grat defensively tonight . I have different experiences for him tho now. I thought when we got him from Florida we would get ppg him. Then realized he's not playing with barkiv I Calgary. Different lie mates different experiences.

For whatever reason I haven't been able to watch the preseason games (no live stream link on my app either??).

Based on the comments here though, I am interested to see how Kerins!, Morton and Kuznetsov make the roster. Perhaps:

Huberdeau Kadri Coronato
Farabee Frost Sharky
Zary Backlund Coleman
Lomberg Pospisil Klapka
Morton Kerins!

Weegar Anderson
Bahl Parekh
Kuznetsov Pachal
Hanley

Wolf
(grab Ingram on waivers?)
_____

-The Flames need to offload some forwards this season. Hopefully two of Coleman, Farabee, or Sharky are traded this season for futures. Gridin will need a place on the roster next season...maybe others as well.
-When Anderson gets traded it opens a place for Brz. The trade also needs to be for futures.
-This roster sees Bean, Miromanov, Soloyov and Kirkland exposed to waivers. None of these are big losses if claimed, aside from perhaps Solo who still has upside.

For Morton, he's not a young rookie at 25. He has shown he can play down the middle by having a very good season in the AHL last year. This is exactly the type of guy you want making the the team in the 4C role as he has a bit more to offer in the toolkit, and obviously still is far younger than Kirkland.

I get that people love Kirkland, but unless it's as a 13th forward, I just don't see the logic in keeping him above Morton or forcing Pospisil into that role instead of playing him on the wing.

Unsurprisingly (to me, at least), nothing I've seen has changed that.

Hopefully he gets a proper shot coming out of camp. Nothing by steady improvement and production from him since breaking out of rapid city.
All Kerins does is quietly put up points. I thought he looked faster tonight than his stint last season and thought he played a reasonably sound game defensively. If he keeps this play up no way they can send him down.

I don't disagree with any of this, but it is also a demonstration of the depth of the team. If Pospisil is moved to the wing for Morton or Kerins or Kirkland, you have to put another winger into the pressbox. I see only two options there - Klapka and Lomberg. I wouldn't displace either of those guys with Morton or Kerins or Kirkland which is kinda what they'd be doing. Tough choices ahead.
