An even better hint was when they mentioned it was the year of the dragon. The last year of the dragon was 2000, the next one is in 2012. Jin's flashback was a few years ago.
I am guessing the Sun's future scene is seven months in.
One question I have is that Sun said she was 2 months pregnant. A pregnancy term is calculated from the time of her last period, which is actually two weeks prior to conception, so she is actually has only been pregnant six weeks. However, we've known about her pregnancy for a very long time - since season 2. Adding to this, most women don't even discover their pregnancy until they miss their first period - at four weeks. So, it would be reasonable that she has only known about her pregnancy for one month. We know they landed on September 22, and a Christmas has passed since they have been there. It seems like the time is out of wack. Maybe she is further along than she realizes. I can't see how only one month has passed since we found her pregnancy.

Is Sayid "believing" the anonymous note sender?
Is the note-sender Ben's spy?
And I don't think Michael is Ben's spy by default. He might be, he may not be. I just don't think you can jump to that conclusion yet.
If the note-sender is Ben's spy on the boat, then why assume that the spy (and by extension, Ben) has their best interests in mind? And perhaps the captain is exactly who he says he is, and the note was just to sow suspicion.
I'm enjoying this season so far. It seems to have direction, as opposed to just stringing the plot along like it did last season.

Did anyone else think the Jin/Sun flashback/forward was too much deceit? Did it serve any narrative purpose other than to confuse viewers, then have a "wow" moment at the end? I thought it was a little excessive, and there was no need to present the events in such a deceitful manner. Sure, have Sun calling out for Jin when in labour, makes sense. But Jin's flashback just happened to be one where Jin is headed to the maternity ward? Ugh.
Hopefully the writers don't keep taking advantage of their viewers, and purposely tricking them and messing with them.
That said, the on island/boat events unfolded interestingly. It was a bit of shock how forthcoming the captain was, which was a nice change. Also, I assumed that Michael is the spy, but as Bobblehead points out, that isn't quite a safe assumption yet. I assume (from the preview) this will be revealed next episode.

I agree, it seems pointless (now). I would rather see Ben's/Desmond's/Michael's/etc. story unfold rather than watching Jin running around buying panda.

She conceived on island. That's why she is in danger.

But we knew about her conception on the Island way back in season 2. She was probably a month pregnant when she realized it. That is only one month ago, because she told us she is two months pregnant last night.
Does this mean that only one month has passed since season 2. That doesn't seem right. Even two months doesn't seem right. They landed on the Island on September 22 and are now past Christmas. Something seems wrong on that timeline.

Yup, in general when they've confused the audience in the past it's been for a purpose. Last night's appeared to be for the sole purpose of having a "big twist" for the sake of having a "big twist."
Wasn't even necessary. Could've had her in labor, calling for her husband and that would've been enough for us to believe he was alive.
Wasting a ton of time on a storyline that served no purpose was pretty lame.
The last two episodes have been sub-par IMHO.

I don't mind the misdirection because it means I must watch very carefully to see the suttle clues. I like the idea that I can't always predict where it is going.

I see what your saying. I was assuming that she would have known she was pregnant as soon as the baby was concieved.

All-right, lostpedia says that Sun became pregnant on October 26. This is something that Juliet tells Sun while examining her in the Staff hatch so the timeline does fit.
Don't forget that a lot of season two was about the tallies bringing us back to Sept 22 for awhile. Man this show is hard to explain.

The questioning of Jin surviving the plane crash has got me to thinking. When Jack testified at Kate's trial didn't he say that there were something like 8 survivors of the crash itself but two died afterwards on the island?
Does anyone remember this? Who were the other survivors of the crash but not one of the Oceanic 6?

I think one of them would have to be Claire. It would be easy to determine that Kate was not pregnant when the crash occured and that Claire was. We have to assume at this time that the authorites believe Claire had survived the crash, gave birth, then passed away and that Kate has been raising Aaron. As long as Aaron is included in the Oceanic 6 that is...

The helicopter merely takes you to the boat though. Being on the boat does not guarantee survival. We have no idea what the true intentions of the people on the boat are yet.

I think Jin would have to be the other. I am sure they figured out that Sun wasn't pregnant when they crashed. If Jin isn't one of the Oceanic 6 (which he isn't), then they must have explained that he died after he impregnated Sun.

The tombstone clearly states that Jin died in the crash as it is dated sept 22, 2004 (the date of the crash). That is a good point about explaining the pregnancy though. Maybe they just said she got pregnant immediately before and left the rest to variations in gestation periods.
My guess is that (assuming all 6 have been revealed) the writers meant that Aaron was the sixth. Regardless of whether he was birthed prior to the flight, he did after all survive on the island. So when media reporters found survivors on the island, they would have included him.

Well, we'll save the spoilers until after it has aired locally, but a decent episode. We get to see what has happened to Michael since he left the island, and how he ends up on the boat.

Yeah, so Michael is working for Ben, tried to kill himself multiple times and it didn't work, told Walt about shooting Libby and Anna Lucia now Walt hates him, and Tom told Kate that she wasn't his type last season, because Tom is a big gay man.
Oh, I forgot it appears that from Locke's camp, Ben set up Karl and Russo's shooting in the jungle.

We can also now confirm that Aaron is the sixth - they flashed through them all in the preview for next week.
