Wouldn't you want the oilers to lose with their best players? Now they have "excuses", and as much as you don't want Edmonton to succeed (and they won't with that back end of their team), McDavid is fun to watch.

You are right, I would prefer to watch them lose with their best players. And he is a great player and very fun to watch. My point was simply that if he wasn't around for the next 7 years then I don't have to hear about him every second of every day in every program I watch.

Clearly the correct thing to do is to postpone the entire season until McDavid is ready. After all, there was no hockey before him, and there cannot be any hockey without him, so what's the point pretending to play?

At an early morning hockey practice for my kid, the TV was blaring and it was a lot of McDavid chatter. Then I see two kids on the ice wearing McDavid shirts. Certainly amplified my early morning grump fest.

McDavid is the new and shiny toy for the league. It's understandable the league and networks will report on his progression. However, the screenshot from TSN is just atrocious overkill. I've seen far fewer reports on Eichel & the rest of the league.

What an embarrassment. It's gotten to the point where I don't even go to any major network's websites anymore. Just a bunch of superficial fluff, nothing substantive or interesting.
