^ he has been awarded another assist its 1g 2a through 2 periods
He is on a 9 game point streak where he has 19 points in those 9 games.

6 straight games Mangiapane has scored 2 or more points.

Wow... I think next year is gonna be one of the most competitive camps for the Flames, guys like Bollig and Stajan better watch out.. Not saying Mangiapane/Janko ect. are gonna steal spots but I think they are going to be very hungry to.

Gene Pereira @GenePereira1 Mangiapane just 3 pts away from joining Labanc & Bryan Little as the only Colts in franchise history to record back-to-back 100-pt. seasons.

Check out Mangiapanes linemate from last year, he was one of those OA we were talking about who came out of no where to put up big point totals.
He was written off by almost everyone, including me.

Rookie pro has 21 points in 24 games in the AHL. 14 points in 28 games in NHL. Pretty damn good!

Andrew Mangiapane is considered much better by Colts fans.

I was also looking for other players that played a OA year in CHL and then had NHL career. I couldn't find any. That's not a great sign for Kanzig, Carroll, Culkin etc

Just wanted to follow up on this (not attacking you here, just using it as a point of reference).

 Since your post (Feb 10th): 14G, 18A, 32P in 14 games, 2.29 PPG

 Overall now: 48G, 50A, 98P in 55 games, 1.78 PPG

 Since Jan 16th, so almost 2 full months: 27G, 20A, 47P in 22 games, 2.14 PPG

 The guy is on fire!

I don't know. I'm still concerned about his production...
 Think it'll work twice?

There is only so much progression one can make when you're putting up a point and a half per game.

Wow how did I forget Ferland.

Their might be some goalies plus a few more but it's definitely rare. I looked at a bunch of best overager lists (OHL) from 2005-2012 and none of them went on to make it.

I got interested because Shark fans are having the same discussion we are about Mangiapane regarding Lebanc.

Some argue he is putting up the same numbers a Dvorak who is considered a legit A prospect and is only 2 months older. Others respond that he didn't break out until his 4th year of OHL eligibility and plenty of players like him went on to fail. Blandasi is the only one who has bucked the trend in the OHL apparently. Perhaps in the WHL it's more common.

Interesting stuff.

For sure. It's far, far easier to go from 1 PPG to 1.5 than to go from 1.5 to 2

Culkin didn't play an overage year in CHL. Although he did spend a season in the CHL that he was AHL-eligible for, that's not the same thing.

I think Tyler Johnson, Jake Muzzin, Joseph Blandisi, Ryan Callahan, Dennis Wideman, Alex Burrows played overage years.

Yeah, Culkin was an overager according to CHL rules which go from Jan. 1 to Dec.31. He has a late birthday (Dec.15) which delays his draft year but doesn't delay his CHL age status.

I think Giordano played his overage year as well.

Where up to 8 now so it has happened more than I thought.

Almost never with highly ranked prospects though (or highly drafted rather). I think Muzzin was the highest drafted and he was a 4th rounder.

I heard somewhere Bryan Marchment was the last 1st rounder to play an overage year. I wonder if that's true and how often 2nd rounders do it.

Thanks for the help guys.

Culkin has showed promise at the AHL level. I would say Kanzig and Carroll are long shots.
