I am starting to think the Oilers are starting to hear the sharks coming. 3 games in hand and 4 points back. Will be interesting to see how this weekend shakes out before they play each other on the 17th.
It's not the goalie. Skinner is doing just fine in Pittsburgh. They are trying to replicate the Oilers of the 80s -all offense, outscore your defensive problems... Except it doesn't work in the modern salary cap era. You can't load your team with enough offense.

It never has been the goalie, but they've also managed to downgrade the position. Jarry simply isn't a good goalie. He wasn't in Pittsburgh the last few years. I don't know why the Oilers felt he was an upgrade.
Just a baffling decision to make that trade.

I agree... completely moronic. At best it was a lateral move - but it seems to be a downgrade, which they actually gave up assets for. They have been so poorly managed it's unbelievable.

They just wanted to blame Skinner more than anything, instead of looking at their star players who are more concerned with padding stats. I figured Jarry to Skinner would be a lateral move, and might work out because Jarry had been playing well for the Pens this year... Boy was I wrong.
McDavid has way too much control over the franchise, he's choosing coaches, and executives etc. They need a coach to implement a system, and not give the wonder twins special treatment.
Jarry made some big saves tonight too, but you can't let a guy like Robertson walk in and get opportunities from the circle over and over again.
Coffey looks absolutely miserable being forced back into that #### show. Did anyone see him yanking the tie off and unbuttoning his dress shirt immediately after leaving the bench last night. You can tell he doesn't want to be there and can't stand the dress code.

I imagine Katz is making it worth his while. You can't fault Katz commitment as just imagine the millions under the table he has handed out to players over the years to not play for the Oilers.
At least they've made enough terrible decisions that the playoff run should be shorter this year. I was hoping it would be non-existent altogether but the Pacific division sucks and they seem to get a pick me up game from the refs once a week to keep just enough points rolling in.

Needing to give up Kulak to make the money work AND a 2nd just makes it so much more ridiculous.
the Penguins then flipping Kulak for another 2nd is downright hilarious.

The Oilers management seems to live 5 years in the past. They so often acquire players who were good once. Arvidsson, Henrique, Klingberg (who has now rebounded), Campbell, Bjugstad.
So they probably thought Jarry was still an up and coming goalie.

Cup parade cancelled again? But wait, I thought they were back to being a powerhouse again after the refs helped them beat a sleepwalking Colorado team missing their best player?

I missed it but did anyone catch the epic battle between "McHero" and the rookie Hryckowian that I've been seeing all over the internet?
I heard that in an effort to defend his best friend and teammate, Pissy, McHero went into the scrum "full speed" and dropped the mitts. Came out with a gnarly scar and showed signs that he will not be defeated.
Wait, that's it?
He lazily skates over to the scrum, doesn't drop the gloves, and gets a nice beauty mark under his eye? Surely Edmonton must've won the game, right? Right? 0p, -3 in a 7-2 beatdown.

I've always associated the El Risitas laughing clip with the Oilers and never won't.
Someone needs to edit a new version with subtitles describing the Oilers' latest woes, including pissing away Holloway, Broberg and swapping Skinner for Jarry among the other ones.
Heck, I'll pay someone to do it. Perfect time for a new one.
