If thats true thats a bad look for the Flames org IMO.

My guess Weegar and his agent were already aware
I doubt the Flames would leak a trade to place demand on the player waiving his NTC

First WC position, I guess Weegar would crumble under the playoff stress?
I mean there's a good chance Calgary doesn't make the playoffs for the rest of his contract.

Purely speculation on my part btw. Feels very odd that we've seen almost the exact same scenario play out twice in the same day, both times involving players being asked to waive for traditionally unappealing markets.

He will waive. This doesn't get out unless there's an inkling it's gonna happen.

He's probably still trying to get off the phone with Conroy...
But more likely, he's talking to his wife.

Unless Utah sent over a package completely out of the blue with no prior discussion after missing out on Parayko I'd have to assume that Conroy knew that Weegar was at least willing to waive for Utah.
Now making that decision when it's time to put pen to paper still might take more than an hour for Weegar, especially since it sounds like it came together pretty quick.

No, I don't buy that. At all.

Friedman says that the deal was taken to Weegar this afternoon.
He also says it is a little weird that Parayko and Weegar and Myers trades got out before the players agreed but might be a reflection of how competitive it is on those players.

Not shaming, just pressure. Weegar’s camp is likely playing rough as well. Negotiations can be ruthless and the fact that Conroy appears to have been player friendly in his dealings doesn’t mean he doesn’t have the rocks to do what it takes to move the next generation forward. When it’s time it’s time.

Don’t know. Conroy could be playing hardball with the player. People complain he is too nice on here lol

I don’t know why Weegar wouldn’t waive
Unless he no longer wants to play competitive hockey

I'd be surprised if CC was happy about this or orchestrated it. He seems like the kind of guy who'd check in with the player first on locations and the possibiity....possibly after hearing from the other side with their thoughts on the deal's structure.
Could be issues in nailing those down as well, prior to more info being released (willingly or unwillingly).

|
If Weegar gets moved, the following will have been traded:
4 top 4 d-men: Weegar, Tanev, Andersson, Hanifin
#5 d-man: Zadorov
#1 goalie: Markstrom
#1 centre: Lindholm
Top 6 wingers: Magiapane, Toffoli
On top of that:
Vladar: gone
Dube: gone
Huberdeau: Gone for the season, potentially longer
Kadri and Coleman: heavily rumored to be traded
If Coleman and Kadri trades go through, from the 2022/23 roster the Flames will have:
Backlund....if you don't count rookies that played under 5 games....just Backlund.

certainly seems to happen quite a bit these days. The rumours about Robert Thomas yesterday, then Parayko and Weegar today. Probably not a coincidence.

Not a Mormon, or a particularly religious person myself...but every Mormon I've dealt with has been a really solid individual. Plus there's a really high percentage of hot blondes (on whatever side you swing).
Utah is a beautiful state in general too. Unless you're the party type, definitely could do a lot worse!
