The Oilers goaltending post-Skinner is really looking like a significant issue. Those games in hand that the teams below them have are going to become a huge issue if the Oilers go on a skid.

They're on pace for 92 points. That doesn't make the playoffs in either conference most years.

Have to say I love this 'karma' subplot developing where they treated their starting goaltender like the resident punching bag for years from passive aggressive comments in the media to threats directed at him and his family. And then out of a mix of impatience and inability to address the defensive lapses that expose their goalies make a knee jerk trade that they believe is lateral at worst but ends up being a clear downgrade, while the former goalie gets his Shawshank Redemption moment and goes on to have great success with his new team.

This is exactly the turn of events they deserve to close out their competitive window.
