This is the real threat everyone should be focused on. We already saw the unrest he fomented last time an election didn't go his way. Now he's had more time to put in the groundwork to undermine the mid-terms, and he'll still be in office. Everyone just seems to be hanging on and waiting for Trump's mandate to be eroded in November but as this is the only real check on his power you can be sure that he's going to do what he can to avoid any unfavourable outcomes from materialising.

Yeah, the midterms. When you try to tell MAGAs what’s at stake all you get is “radical left lunatic” crap, of course.
The more I study Thiel, Yarvin, and listen to Gil Duran (NerdReich podcast and upcoming book), Matthew Boedy (Seven Mountains Mandate), etc., the more terrifying it becomes.
Jeez people. Do you want your kids to live in “Network Cities,” where they would be nothing but serfs unless they are part of the tech elite? Thiel thinks it’s okay to experiment on humans the same way we do on animals, euthanize people who are no longer useful, etc. They just say you’re paranoid. And then you remind them of the hate Vance and Rubio had for Trump. What kind of bone were they thrown to change that?
We hear about the PayPal mafia, but there are many more like-minded techno fascists out there that we don’t hear about. But nah, it’s all about getting those illegals and owning the Libs. We’re so screwed.

This is what worries me too. These insufferable tech bros/tech fascists are the ones pulling the strings behind the scenes behind the Trump administration. They want Greenland because of its cold nature that will assist in cooling their power requirements for their ungoverned AI-powered tech-cities. It's just a land grab as well so that they have the minerals and use the guise of 'national security' to tell the masses why they want it... why they can't just build their stupid tech-cities in Alaska is a question that no one is publicly asking.
These rich people... just want more and more and it's becoming insufferable. And, they don't want to take from their friends and puppet politicians, they want to take from ordinary people like you and me.
That's what MAGA doesn't understand either... there's an elite club behind their movement, and they're not in it... but they're sure being given the illusion of being able to get there, through hate and division.

This guy's arrogance really pisses me off... As for his comments about China not importing from Canada, he obviously missed the Vice Premier of China's speech where he laid out clearly how China over the next 5 years will be transitioning into becoming "the world's market" saying that boosting domestic demand was now "on top of China's economic agenda". In other words, China has entered a phase where it expects and aims to replace the US as the world's primary consumer market.
Edit to add - Eff Lutnick for acting like the upcoming USMCA discussions would have been fair. Canada's been trying to talk to the US about the tariffs that America unilaterally imposed on Canada or the USMCA which Trump's own administration was part of constructing in his first term for over a year. It's been clear that there's no reasonable conversation to be had with them. Canada's moving on.

Lutnick is a complete jackass. Anything he spews in front of the cameras is nothing more than performative nonsense meant for an audience of one, which is Trump, and none of what he says is ever based in fact or reality. Can’t remember where I read it, but there was a comment from a Canadian official a few months back where they mentioned that Lutnick is much different behind closed doors during their meetings when Trump isn’t around, and isn’t nearly as much of a d**k as he is when he’s being interviewed.

It's hilarious that the U.S. can say that they don't need us for anything and basically tell us to ####-off and find our own way, then get upset that we have the audacity to actually do just that. It's like breaking up with your girlfriend then getting jealous when she starts seeing other people.

American arrogance holds no comparator.
The amount of soft power they are losing now is unprecedented. If/when a new leader comes along, will countries and their citizens forgive?
One of the US's greatest strength was their alliance system. They had a true global stranglehold over other large powers. Russia was surrounded by adversaries; China could flex its finances in Africa, but were geopolitically hemmed in on all sides by US partners.
To think that the US didn't/doesnt benefit from protecting these nations under its umbrella is misguided and if nations such as Canada, Japan, and the EU start to look elsewhere, the US could run into some inconveniences in the future.
Greatest country in the world, indeed.
