I was trying to make a list of players we actually wanted to keep. Not god awful losers who should quit playing hockey.

The Athletic has Robert Thomas ranked #15 on their trade board..... What would he cost and should the Flames be interested? He's only 26 and a right handed center.

I was obviously being facetious, but for every Iginla or Regehr there is a Huberdeau surrounded by "what ifs". It is what it is.

I don't think that's what "core" means.

Murray is fine with missing the playoffs, I think for better or worse that is crystal clear to anyone following the team.

i'm a fan and would love it for the right cost...especially if you can move Kadri for anything.
maybe an off-season move if he's still there?

Disappointed that we seem to be hearing Whitecloud is here to say. Would love to see Conroy be aggressive here and flip him to someone like Dallas or San Jose as a consolation prize after losing out on Andersson.
Weegar's not going anywhere, he's the leader and experienced vet on D. Guess we'll see.

IMO
Wolf, Parekh, Kuz, Gridin, Reschny, Wyttenbach and Potter should be the only untouchables today. The rest should be available for varying degrees of price. Bahl, Coronato, Brzu should be really expensive if you want to talk about them. And the rest fair game.

I think it’s Coleman time now to give him the break to move his family.
Kadri before deadline would be great but I have little faith it’ll happen.
Whitecloud should get flipped too rather than Pachal due to the value.

2nd + Schmidt from the Stars would be a nice package

I could see Tampa offering O'Reilly 1 for 1. He wasn't their own draft pick and teams always tend to value those types a little less.
Coleman for O'Reilly feels pretty fair IMO.

Which really isn't reasonable to trade him at that point.

The only comment here is Conroy isn’t going to poo poo and devalue Whitecloud. He will act excited even if he is planning to ship him.
“We love this guy and are stoked to have him. So better give us a good offer”

On 32 Thoughts EF speculated that maybe the Flames would/could flip Whitecloud to BOS as a consolation prize.
God, I hope so.

I dunno man, that would be the best prospect we've gotten back (I guess Brz was about the same level).
I would of agreed, but it just doesn't seem likely with how the trades have gone so far.

Taking a while to get to 5000
|
Honest question, have the Flames acquired someone like this, with term, only to flip them immediately?

Sec seemed to say he was hearing that was the plan yesterday. Royle says it's not. Would be interested to see what the insiderrrrs are hearing now that things have settled down.

Not off the top of my head. And I agree it's unlikely.
But hey, they've traded with Edmonton like 3 times in the last 20 years so. Anything is possible.

Thanks! I was out and about shortly after the trade so I missed a lot!

I can’t recall an example but I don’t think what has happened in the past has any bearing on what could happen today.
Before Conroy took over the Flames had drafted more than once in the 1st round once in their entire history as an organization. Now they’re approaching year 3 of what could be 4 years in a row with multiple first round picks.
What’s past is past. Let’s see what Conroy does with it.
