Now it's a matter of if they can find a contract that works for both sides, knowing that to bypass his best UFA opportunity Rasmus will probably be looking for somewhat of an overpay.
So that's why nothing has been finalized.
And then perhaps with all the buzz in the last 48 hours, that increased the urgency for another team(s) to try and still get in there.
I know some people are frustrated but I find this stuff an absolute hoot. This is the fun stuff.

Oh 100% these are the fun times.

I think he’s improved as a player, but I don’t believe his skating will ever be a strength. High-end hands and brain though.

Curious if this drags on further, next game is only a day away on Monday.
With new teams in, it could possibly drag out unless the agents ask is the same no matter the team.
Sec, extension required on that new offer?

Sec said prior that with the names mentioned he expected it would require an extension.

I still want it to be the Sharks... they have to see that the way this is going will leave them with very limited options on July 1st for upgrading their D group and they'll essentially be stuck extending their current group.
Hoping that Andersson will be available later for free isn't a strategy, it's just wishful thinking.

Can confirm Bystedt was part of the Sharks offer.

It sounds like a moot point and Musty is a decent player but he's not someone I'd want the flames targeting, the team has plenty of wingers at pro level who are still young or have loads of term and also in the cupboard. His first pro season state line looks very similar to Stromgren's AHL +1. I know he's a year younger in the comp so obviously he is on a better curve, but about a 0.7-0.75 ppg, not a ton of goals/more assists, tracking towards about 50 pts and a minus player on a winning team.
But the big issue is opportunity - I would rather see them pick up a center prospect and invest playing time in Stromgren and Gridin to see what we have on hand already before you block those guys out and devalue the assets. I really believe that ice time at the NHL level is an investment in your young players and without it they do not reach their potential.
With Coronato, Sharangovich, Farabee and Zary all locked in for a bit, Hubderdeau basically an immovable object and Klapka looking like he's about to become a fixture it's tough to see how the flames make the developmental time needed to bring a lot more top 6 wingers at the NHL level along. Gridin will need a long look and ideally Stromgren would get a shot and then Basha, Honzek and Suniev behind them, and Potter probably being a winger, just doesn't feel like the position you target if Bystedt or Lund can be had.
With Backlund and Kadri being so old there will clearly be minutes there for center prospects who rise to the top within a year or two.

How's he looked in the A this year? His stat line looks like he's progressed but doesn't always tell the story.

Cheers to the local CPer who was checking this thread in the theater right before the Lord of the Rings Two Towers
Imagine a world where Rasmus gets traded minutes into the extended edition. The pain of not knowing.

Imagine trading for Ras in 2020 when he was turning 25, just after he put up 22 points in 70 games.

These offers sound amazing. That's why I don't believe them.
45 years a Flames fan, I think I can count the won trades in that time on one hand.
Hope the insiders are right!

So thinking about a West team that has decent assets and would be interested in Ras...and I wonder about Seattle.
Sec has said he doesn't think SJS will pay the price. DAL, VGK, EDM, COL don't have the assets. MIN doesn't need a dman. LA already tried and were turned down. NSH and lower in the standings aren't moving assets.
So to me that leaves Utah, Seattle, and Anaheim.
With Seattle being a bit of a dark horse. They have two firsts this year and next. A lot of RH center options (Wright, Firkus, Morrison)
I do wonder if Firkus and O'Brien being RH shot centers, and Wright having a poor season make him a expendable.
1st (SEA or TBL), Wright, and Evans?
Wright feels like the type of name that would make Sec say it's a big name.

I would love to snag Wright. I still think he could hit big.
44 pts in 70 games last season playing 3rd line minutes...

They are better than what we got for Iginla. Granted Iginla was 35 at the time, but still.
