I use this on my Pixel all the time and love it for calls from numbers that I don't recognize.

Yeah, I'm probably the same if it's set up correctly. These people are in their late 70s, and I would put money on every single one of their contacts being written on a piece of paper, taped to the inside of a kitchen cupboard door.

That's my phone, and I wondered for a minute if I had the feature activated--rather, if it came activated--and I didn't even know it.
I can definitely see the benefits of a call screener, but I do get a number of calls from people I'd have no reason to have in my contacts. Might just be easier to spend 60 seconds a week dealing with voicemail. I don't know, still playing around with it.

As long as the tape doesn’t leave adhesive residue behind. Nothing like trying to scrape that crap off or dousing it with goof-off.

anything interesting I missed? haven't checked in a long time... last read was post 27853 and nope, not gonna read 'em all. Anyone got naughty enough to get kicked off? prison? (CP or IRL).
Oh... WRGMG... the lovely speed and actions of our glorious medical system. this is on behalf of family and friends:
1. how they pretty much ignore a lot of seniors needs and pain management. Really affected a family members standard of living for a few years now. Really confirms that within the medical system just about everyone needs an active advocate.
2. how the mental help is really just putting someone into confinement and not actively treating their psychological needs, nor communicating with their prior mental health team.

I have all the log in info for the account, since I set it up, and I will be checking. I will also phone and speak to whomever I have to, for as many hours as I have to, to get in touch with McDuder that I spoke with tonight - he's the dude that said he'd be calling to follow up, specifically - so I'll be lighting asses up if this doesn't happen in exactly the manner I was told it would.

Folks logged into the account this morning. On Friday, they still had an amount owing, though the bill wasn't due until the end of this month. Talked to them earlier today, and now it says they owe nothing this month. We're calling them in the morning before hubby goes to work, to log in to the account - their internet bill seems very high, considering how they *don't* use it - super high speeds, more associated with gaming/streaming, and they absolutely don't need that. So, we want to investigate and see about changing their internet package if possible, knock their bill down even more, so that the near $1300 credit they have, will go a little farther.

I called someone in their early 20s a while back, their voicemail message was "At the tone, hang up and text me" then it hung up with no option to even leave a message.
I absolutely love that

I... damn, that is kind of a great idea.
It won't work whatsoever for any calls related to government, healthcare, or financial, but I admire the thought.

I actually wish more people would leave voicemails. In my position, I get a lot of sales calls and they don't leave VMs. They just call every single day until I either block them or tell them no, and then they leave me alone for 2-3 months before starting again.
If some of them took the time to leave an intellgent, meaningful voicemail, then I would respect that and give them 30 min of my day. I've run a business in the past and know how hard that is. But it takes zero effort to call a number every day and it shows you're only willing to do the bare minimum. No thanks.

That's not what it shows at all. Most people I know hate when someone leaves them a voicemail (aka a job to deal with). Calling back shows more initiative than throwing the ball in someone else's court and hoping they actually listen to it and then do the job of calling you back. In fact, in my work, we have to call people when we complete their projects. We'll note the date and write "LM" (left message), but it goes into a pile where we call them back within the week to ensure they know their job is ready.
You're using voicemail how it was used 15 years ago, but most people don't. We leave a message and note it just so we can reference it when they inevitably say 'no one told me it was ready!' We give them the date of the voice message and every.single.time they say, 'oh, I don't check my messages.'
Leaving a message is rude, but we only do it to cover our ass. In my personal life I'd never leave a message for someone since I don't like assigning crappy jobs of retrieving messages to my friends. If you don't answer, I'll call back later or shoot you a text.

My phone transcribes voicemails. Why listen when I can read much faster.

I have to call people to arrange work, whenever I get a message that says I can text them instead for a faster response I jump at that opportunity. Mine says the same thing.
A lot of people either don't call back and wait for me to call again, or else call back immediately without listening to the voicemail, which is frustrating in it's own right.

I don't like VMs either, but I've got some people in my life that go way too far with it that I can't help but bug them about it..
One of my best friends apparently hates them now, just read me the riot act one time over me leaving one recently ("never ever send me one again! EVER!!"), it was way over the top for a first "offence".
So for the next 3 days, I left him a VM every day, saying in the message "I know how you hate VMs, so I'm just calling to say I left you a text message instead. Just ensure you check it buddy. K thanks bye". Felt good
