If this doesn't go to Boston, that organization will never want to trade higher profile players with us again. Probably having Iginla PTSD right now.

Yeah, that’s a great package. Must be a done deal. If not the Lohrei instagram stuff would be super weird.

One thing is clear, if 4 teams still remain in the mix, it was never really close. Lots can change with 4 teams.

I know many (most probably, as usual haha) will disagree with me but I honestly think Kadri for Hage is pretty fair. Kadri makes them a cup contender and Hage still carries legitimate prospect risk of turning out.
His cap hit isn’t too bad at 7 and the Flames could maybe retain to get it over the line too or maybe add a pick after the 1st rd like a 2nd or later or something. Kadri has huge value IMO. Kadri and one of the later 1sts or something maybe, but that might be an overpay too. Maybe you swing Andersson for the Bruins 2x 1sts and then you have 1 in the arsenal to flip to Montreal.
Montreal is prob like no chance of trading Hage, and I get it, but Kadri legitimately makes them lethal I think. Maybe trading a blue chip is worth it to become a contender for a couple years.

Maybe if Montreal was at the tail end of their window they’d toss Hage in but they are just opening

This is not dissimilar to Montreal getting Suzuki for patches in the knights boosted their cup chances and Montreal go their future stud. Montreal should do another team this kind of favour (the other team being us of course)

Fair but also let’s not minimize this is Nazem Kadri. Dude is a gamer on a relatively inexpensive contract relatively speaking. Playoff performer and total workhorse when engaged. Like, this guy has a lot of value so if Montreal is really that interested they need to pony up. You could generate at least the same type of bidding war as Andersson appears to be getting by presenting Kadri to the market. He won a cup for a reason.
As well it doesn’t need to be the Conroy patented 1st plus player plus prospect. Just get 1 super high quality asset. It’s fair, Hage hasn’t proven himself at the NHL level.

It wasn't just the one guy saying the Boston trade was done last night. There were three or four guys from the Boston side saying it.
Ultimately I think Boston is the winner until proven otherwise. Even in the internet world full of trolls and turd disturbers, I've never seen folks stick their necks out like that in one night. Granted they were probably right at the time but until the trade call is made, nothing is ever across the line.

Their window has taken a while to open though, and they’re generally short lived without having to retool.
They effectively have this year and next year before some significant team changes likely occur, and the who knows if those changes expand or collapse their window.
I’m with MrCoffee on this one. Sometimes teams have to be aggressive and chase small windows, not just assume they’ve got a big wide window opening for 4+ years.
