I feel like Backlund has been snubbed by team Sweden so many times that he must be used to it by now, but that is disappointing. He's basically having a career year at the age of 36, it would have been nice to see him rewarded.

The problem is nobody really watches the Flames or talks about them. Sportsnet is also an issue.
Backlund is easily better than many on that team. Pretty brutal.
I will say that D though looks fantastic.

had a family member Oilersplain me that while Flames fans think of Andersson as a top pairing guy the rest of the league and their fans correctly slot him as a 4-5. guess he at least also bumped Ekholm

That's more of a fan criticism though, the guys running the show for Sweden (Alex Steen IIRC) have picked some odd forwards. Maybe Backlund isn't the right age or the right speed anymore but he should be on that team. Hell Elias Lindholm is iffy over Backlund as well IMO.
