Interesting. I wonder if the radar takes over? I have not looked into it but I think i heard there is a crazy amount of radars on those.

If that is the case, It would likely be better in fog and low visibility situations.

I still don't think I would like dressing in brown all the time and all that goostepping has to be hell on the knees and hips.

Radar is helpful in that situation but there is no radar equipped on Teslas (except in the cabin for some models). Why? I'm sure Brupal has an excuse.

No one even gets in a vehicle with them to see if their paper knowledge transfers to real world skill. This is a failure of governance, not a problem because they are immigrants. The only people to blame here are voters. But oh ya, you don't think that's fair.

This is an issue everywhere, this isn't some localized AB issue where the UCP government is allowing whomever to get classified as a pro driver where they aren't. It's not that Skip drivers in Manitoba or Toronto are vastly superior in maneuvering skills compared to Calgary. Everybody the same hot garbage because these are exceedingly low paying jobs for people when everything is factored in, often with a low barrier to entry. Heck you would be amazed at how often random people who are not actually Uber certified are actually driving Uber on the side. Who's actually paying attention to what the driver looks like? Like the driver, most people are neck deep on their screens. These big companies don't give a crap. Everybody puts up with this garbage service from everywhere.

It's the way the system is designed. Let's get low IQ, entry level workers who are "contractors" as drivers, effectively don't pay them properly, big business charges small business and users of said services (Amazon, Skip, Uber, Door Dash etc etc) effective rent for the rest of their lives on both buy side/sell side to enrich a few dozen people globally.

The system I described above is what the union and Canada Post workers are fighting against. When the union and workers bring up how Amazon deliver at night when it's cold and icy out as being dangerous , someone needs to be honest with them. Canadian's and the world rapidly does not care. We want packages and your broken ankle and concussion be dammed at 8 pm on a snowy Tuesday.

Full disclosure: I don't use Uber, Skip, food delivery apps, Amazon etc.

I explained a while ago when people complain about the parking of said services and their drivers that we, as a society are to blame. People want a single pasta sauce or 2 coffees or a tube of toothpaste delivered, when the driver is making $2 in -30, where would people expect them to park? In a proper parking spot waayyyyyy down the street? Ya right.

I like the part where the app tells them to only pull over just a foot and a half when stopping.

What happened to the lanes when coming off of EB Glenmore onto NB Deerfoot where the construction is happening, it’s nuts. As soon as you get onto Deerfoot the barriers and whatever lane markings are supposed to be there look like a drunk squirrel laid it all out.

Yeah when I think of great service I think of government unions, like the CRA.

Welp, I think I'm done with the place I'm working at. I'll let the contract run out and have no interest in working here ever again.

Some of the sloppiest code I have ever seen. Utterly stupid architecture decisions. No requirements on tasks. They can't even get accessibility right. Pure amateur hour.

Uber Drivers have been completely replaced on my #### list with Food Delivery Drivers.

I cannot wait for these companies to go under, but we are too lazy to let that happen

I can't imagine someone's laziness or excessive disposable income for anyone to use those services on a consistent basis

I get it if you're sick or in a pinch but my neighbour uses this service almost daily. Its a single mom that rents the house with two sons ages 20-25 that still live at home

None of my business but I'd be cooking dinners to save some cash.

I hate banks so much.

Opened a new account for use when I'm in Canada. Opened it online, still have to go in the the branch to verify my id. Annoying, but fine, did that the last time I was in Calgary. Three days after I do it, get an email saying I still need to verify my id. Fine, I go back in to the branch and do it again. Of course no record of my doing it the first time.

Account still locked, a deposit gets returned. Great. 3 days to get that sorted out. I'm back in Calgary this week, so go in. "Oh, it says here you need to come verify your ID" for ####s sakes, here's my driver's license, passport, healthcare card, I am clearly who I say I am open the damn account. Luckily this person was actually half competent and got that sorted. Okay, good.

Also opened a new credit card with the same bank. Should be simple right? Kinda, except it doesn't show up in my online banking. Bring that up while I'm in the branch as well, 'oh it got opened under a different profile, I'll submit a request to have them merged' alright, fair enough, that makes sense to me.

Today got an email that that request was finished, so I sign in. Nope, not fixed. Call in, sit on hold for an hour, get transfered around two times, "Oh it got opened under a different profile, I'll submit a request to have them merged." Yeah no ####. Okay sounds good, I'll continue to wait patiently. At least the card works in the meantime.

Oh also closing my old account at another bank. Did that in person last month as well. "Oh we can't do that in branch but I'll submit the request should only take a day or two." Here we are a month later, account still open, now with a negative balance because I had it at $0 to close it but fees have now come out. Whatever, #### you guys I did my part, don't come calling me saying I have an account with an overdue balance I closed that thing in November.

Maybe I'm just too nice and need to be more pushy for #### to get resolved but that's just not who I am.

I think you just ran against the general incompetence that seems to be taking over society as the new norm.

I had banks #### things up on me in the 90s. Sometimes I wonder if they're being robbed blind and they just don't notice.

And to be fair to them, they're likely massively underpaid and provided next to no training

And people wonder why I have multiple banks accounts.

Because inevitably one will be broken or unusable for one reason or another. Wealthsimple has been great to deal with. RBC, not off to a great start

If it makes you feel less alone, a couple years ago I had to open a new account, but I was told I had to setup a meeting at the branch to do it. Uh, ok fine. So I go in, and it's clearly the poor guy's first day, possibly first apponitment. After a few minutes of me watching him learn how a mouse works, he is rapidly realizing how over his head he is in, and confidently calls, uhm, probably headquarters? Super support? I dunno, but the guy gets connected to his screen(presumably viewing only), and proceeds to tell him exactly where to click, what to type, and what to print, and where I sign.

It felt less like him learning and more like some Frankensteinian tele-operation procedure. Anyway a week later I get a call that something didn't work and I'd have to go back. Not surprising. So I did. I had a different person(shocking that the first may have not survived onboarding). I essentially sat down as they clicked around and then said I was good to go, and didn't need to sign anything. I had no reason to be there. Thanks, guys.

This has to be TD Bank.

After the 413th visit I told the person at the bank I was phoning the police because you are actively attempting to steal money from me. Then manager comes out and knows exactly what to do to resolve.

The verification process is so insane these days so you are so incredibly sour the hour later when you talk to a human. And then they are incredulous why you could possibly be frustrated.

You just know there is some POS in a corporate board meeting with shoulder pads that is recommending that frustrating people into hanging up early has added $XX,XXX,XXX.XX in value on her powerpoint presentation.

Ooh we're telling Bank Stories now are we? Heres one of my favourites:

Years and years ago I had to cash a cheque. Now...since the advent of being able to cash cheques through the phone app I dont mind taking cheques every now and then.

The guy who wrote the cheque was old and his handwriting wasn't great so the app denied the deposit by photo...have to go to the branch.

The Bank. One of my least favourite places on Planet Earth, but fine, I go to the Branch and stand in line to see a teller.

"Oh! You can just deposit that at the ATM!"

Fine. Go to the ATM and attempt to deposit cheque. Relatively confident that this isnt going to work because if the photo from my phone wasn't good enough what are the chances the ATM scanner is going to be any better?

It. Was. Not.

Back in line to see the Teller.

"Okay, well we'll just deposit it here then!" At which point he takes the cheque and proceeds to run it through his scanner which, once again, surprising no one, denies the cheque because it cant read it.

Bear in mind...I have the physical, signed cheque right here. We're looking at it in real life. It is in the Teller's hands.

"I'll have to get my Manager to deposit this."

Fine. Manager (eventually) shows up, looks at the cheque aaaand....

Me: "If you run that cheque through the MF'ing scanner I'm going to hop over this counter and beat you to death with it."

Lo and behold! He runs the cheque through the scanner and to the grand shock and awe of absolutely nobody...it doesn't work.

Now the entire goddamned Branch is just all shoulders.

"The cheque can't be scanned! We've tried nothing and we're all out of ideas!"

I am attempting to deposit a cheque. I'm not wire-transferring funds to an off-shore account in the Caymans or anything, this is literally the absolute simplest banking transaction of the face of the Earth and not one of you can manage it?

I #### you not. It just so happened that an old retired colleague of theirs had shown up to have coffee with his old co-workers so they dragged his retired ass out of the break room, and remember, he doesnt even work here anymore, and he had to show them how to do it.

How to deposit. A cheque.

These are the people that run our Banks. The backbone of our Nation's Financial Institutions.

People wonder why I have seemingly unlimited disdain, disrespect and bordering on pure hatred of Banks? They hold all of the cards but think they're playing Dominos. They have no idea what they're doing.

I had an all-timer bank moment this year too. Our mortgage was due for renewal and our bank was not even close to being competitive. No problem, got a contact for a mortgage broker and he set me up. The timing worked out that with the best rate I would be about 3 days from the end of my mortgage date, but it should not be an issue since there is some wiggle room at the end of these terms. The day to transition the mortgage comes and there are some issues with my bank. I call and they had charged me the mortgage penalty fee, but they confirmed it would be waived. I call back later to confirm which account it would be sent to and the second person does a 180 and says it will not waived. I have been with my bank for 35 years and have a fair amount of products with them, so I figure we can get this sorted out easy enough. I call my branch manager and she is very confident it won’t be a problem. 8 weeks later she lets me know she can’t get the penalty fee waived and too bad so sad. I have two buddies that are VPs at the bank, but I figured this was not a situation that needed to be escalated, but now I’m pissed. Call my one buddy up and the money is back in my account 3 days later accompanied by one of the funniest corporate apology emails I have ever seen. So yah, banks…wtf are you doing!?

It is pretty wild actually. If your traveling NB going over Glenmore, merging vehicles seem to pop out of nowhere, and there arent any real lines marking the lanes.
