I think the league is in fine shape, they have 5 of 8 teams that are stable if not growing, 1 new team coming into the league.
Well, within all my text, that was the point. The league as a whole have this summer to piggyback off the biggest related promotion they could ever have, that being a World Cup held in two Canadian cities.

The league planned to be at a different stage in the business model by 2025/26, but regardless, if they as a league can’t gain more widespread attention and traction after this summer, it’s hard to see how else they ever will make those gains and there will be a natural drop off of corporate support for a couple years.

Sure there are properly run teams who had managed through the challenges and deficits, but is 4 teams enough to sustain a league?

I completely agree with this and would even say that fans need to be willing to compromise. Forget not letting perfect be the enemy of good, they need to be willing to accept barely okay. However, ownership groups need to fully utilise this willingness for fans to compromise. Although Hamilton and Winnipeg started with similar situations, only one of the ownership groups utilised the aforementioned fan willingness. You could argue that this was a similar case for Edmonton and Halifax. The results speak for themselves.

Fans definitely need to show up, but owners can't half ass it when the fans do indeed show up.

I really want to be an old man still going to games with my kid decades later. Please hold on CPL.

Also pretty concerned with there seemingly only being 4 strong teams. Like Shermanator said, hopefully Supra is solid. York (I mean, "Inter Toronto" if the rumours are true) and Pacific have good opportunities to bounce back, but can CPL be viable with 4-6 teams and a revolving door? This year might literally be make or break. Get as many of the 8 viable as possible and get some quality expansion ASAP, or else.

The new USL Division 1 may be a landing zone if the worst happens (and it would likely also have Concacaf Champions Cup berths), but I have a lot of concerns. Forge would go for sure, and sure, the growth potential would be stronger, but with the minimum stadium requirements, I really worry about whether Cavalry would continue.

Would Spruce Meadows spring for a franchise fee in the new US Div 1 league, plus spring for a 15k seat stadium or play in McMahon (I have my doubts). Would CSEC buy them and do the same, also doubt that. Don't really want to find out either.

CPL will be around as long as people want it around. But it's put up or shut up time for everyone in this country in that regard.

There needs to be enough commitment and effort from ownership to make their clubs a success. And as Addick said, people need to be willing to accept what's there (within reason of course) and do what they can to make it work financially.

I know I'm preaching to a bunch of posters who already do their part but after 11 years of the same message it feels like a lost cause.

I feel like Heathcott-Southern is a businessperson who makes decisions based on that. So, would they build the 15k seater? Sure, if you seek out this 5,000 venue for say five years. But it just seems unlikely that she’d plow money in and hope that it would turn out. I have no idea, but that’s just my take on that situation.

And no, the league can’t survive on 4 franchises. Other places need to get their businesses in order. That’s really what this is all about. There are plenty of supporters of the game across the country. If no one can figure out how to run a viable business in these cities though, it’s doomed.

Holy frick the Whitecaps beat LAFC on penalties!

They had 9 men at the end (late second yellow red card, BS call thought he got the ball) and an injury to Halbouni in extra time.

And a single sequence in extra time had LAFC hit the right post, the left post, then the bar. Absolutely insane.
