This is a league where even the best players on the planet struggle at times with their confidence and the expectations placed on them (both internally and externally). Of course Zayne's confidence is shot to some degree - why wouldn't it be? It can't be easy going from being the best defensemen in junior two years running to being a healthy scratch on what is the worst team in the NHL currently. It has to be a mental battle for him at the moment - but it doesn't mean he's not capable of overcoming that.

Nathan Mackinnon is a perfect example of a young kid who struggled mightily with the mental side of the game during his first 4 seasons. It wasn't until he hired a Sport Psychologist and overcame the mental hurdles he was dealing with that he became an elite talent in the league.

Last time I looked the Rangers were floundering and giving up 5 goals to the Flames (and I have no idea who you are talking about on that team they have no 19 year olds). When they last had a 19 year old first round D prospect they played him 43 games.

EDIT: and Minnie's choices are a 19 year old, a 23 year old and a 21 year old, with Bogosian out. Your guess is as good as mine whether Hynes is a good coach but he's never gotten past round one ever. He's been out of the POs as much as in.

Dude is a 19 yeah old dman! Unless he is blowing up and playing great I see no issue with a slower approach. I don't recall seeing this many people clamouring for a 19 year old dman to play every game before. I get it adds a bit of excitement for fans in a lost season but he's still a teenager for Pete's sake.

I think people are looking at it backwards. Every game he is scratched shouldn't be looked at as a punishment, but rather every game he plays should be considered a gift.

If it wasn't for the AHL/CHL agreement, he wouldn't be in the NHL at all right now. He'd be playing down in the AHL because he isn't ready for the NHL full time.

I'm not worried about his confidence. He seems like a very confident person. It's probably been a little humbling to find out how much stuff he needs to do to improve, but he needed to find out eventually.

Come on folks, we've got to limit the liability Parekh. Can't risk falling into 33rd place and squandering Kadri's big night. Don't lose sight of what's most important! Teenagers are reckless and can't be trusted.

We have to use him sparingly until the coaching staff can work those junior-esque offensive instincts out of him in favour of system and structure. He needs to be an obedient soldier, not some dynamic dynamo. We don't develop those in Calgary, and it's served us well in our quest for 17th. If he thinks he can be an exception, he's got another thing coming!

We"ll send him to Florida if he wants to be a loose cannon and put up 100 points playing chaos hockey.

Sorry, I meant the Islanders. He isn't a "fragile snowflake". He is a 19 year old player used to being a high end guy trying to learn his way in the league who is having confidence issues right now. Benching him does absolutely nothing for his development right now, nothing. Are we fighting for a SC this year that we have to bench the young players? Huska's handling of the young players in this team has been abysmal, whether it's Parekh, Coronato, or Zary.

Am I mad that I’m going to the game and don’t get to see Parekh? A bit ya. But instead of complaining every time this happens it’s probably best to just remember we don’t have all the info in that room even if we don’t agree with how Parekh’s being handled from the outside. End of the day, from top down both in the Flames org and for fans, we all just want to see Parekh succeed.
