I think sadly its time to move on from Rene, Father Time caught up with him. Still scratching my head on why we didn't run the ball on the final 2 plays, Mills would have easily gotten us closer to the endzone and win the game for us.
Overall it was a really fun season with some real good results going into a big 2026. Will be interesting to see if Walker is QB2 next year.

It was pretty encouraging to hear that both Mills and Rhymes want to return to the Stamps as both are pending free agents. Mills spoke to how much how much he loves it in Calgary while Rhymes said the Stamps re-ignited his passion for football.

“I expect to have some good conversations shortly (regarding my contract status),” O’Shea told the media on Monday at Princess Auto Stadium. “These conversations will happen with myself and (team president) Wade (Miller) and (general manager) Kyle (Walters).”
My two cents are if you wanted to fire DD after the 5-12-1 in 2024, I would have signed off on it. The team had become very stale with both coaches and players and it was a very unhealthy locker room. Jay McNeil decided to keep DD on board and we saw some long term coaches as well as veteran players leave. Thus, it was the much needed housecleaning that the team needed.
To rebound with a 11-7 record in 2025 with the youngest team in the league while also losing the most man games to injury in the league is pretty darn impressive in my opinion. You can say stats are for losers, but the Stamps dominated the stat sheet yesterday, VA mismanaged the clock at thr end of the first half, a Lions kick-off return for a TD, and a very untimely fumble by Brooks kept BC in the game. You also want to leave as little time as possible for Rourke on the clock because he can move a team down the field quickly as we all saw last night.
TLDR, but I think DD earned another year at the helm of the Stamps. I think the stakes have been raised though and a minimum of one playoff victory is needed in 2026.
DD isn’t a big game coach. That’s why we haven’t won a playoff game since 2018. Change the players. Change the coordinators and position coaches. Results are the same. 0 playoff wins. We should have had 3 cups with bo Levi, we got one. And that’s on Dickenson.
If Edwards put as much attention on the stamps as he does the Flames, Dickenson would be long gone. But McNeil/hufnagel/Dickenson skate through as it’s all about the Flames. Clean house and start over.

I can certainly understand the frustration, but at the same time I still believe the time to clean house was a year ago. I don't think you can understate how big a move it was getting VA on board as it directly led to guys like Rhymes and Philpot choosing to sign/remain in Calgary. I just don't see how you can send DD packing after a pretty successful season despite losing to the Lions on a walk-off FG.
The top priorities right now are getting Mills and big chunks of the defensive line to re-sign with the Stamps. I think with Calgary hosting the Grey Cup in 2026, the pressure will be on the team to do whatever it takes to be in that game. I think we saw this past season that they are well on their way to being a Grey Cup contender.

By the way, this is the first year since 2016 that a team other than the Stamps or Blue Bombers will be the West representative in the Grey Cup. It was a run of three years for the Stamps followed by a five year run for the Bombers. That Winnipeg team was a tough nut to crack, but I think age finally caught up to the team this season (along with injuries to key players).

I'm going to predict a BC Win, and it won't be as close as last week. While it might be chilly in Regina at -4, the weather shouldn't have a huge factor. Roarke just seems to be impossible to stop, you might contain him but he has a real clutch feel to him. The Lions will send a ton of heat at Harris, which might take away his deep threats and force him underneath.

I would bring back Brooks, Barnes, and maybe Jones. I feel the Stamps need to get younger at the position as Begelton will be coming back from injury at 32 years old. As for Henry, the team knows better where he's at than we do but it's likely he's never going to be the same player.

I’d love for the Lions to knock off the Riders. I hate their fans. I’ve had a few encounters with them in the stadium. It’s amazing how arrogant they can be with only four Grey Cups.
I don’t care if the riders win as long as the drunken belligerent rider fans beat up all the opposing team’s fans in the stands. It’s not whether you win or lose, it’s how drunk you get. And violence is alway a part of that.
The Quest stands upon the edge of a knife. Stray but a little, and it will fail, to the ruin of all. Yet hope remains while the Company is true. Go Flames Go!
The CFL just really recycles coaches, its in my mind why the game seems so flat at time, we're not bringing in new ideas.
Personally, and I think that there should be a CalgaryPuck petition, that we should push for dynamic not so young utterly creative coaches into the CFL . . . like me
