It depends on when he leaves college.
He could leave college before graduation and the Flames would only own his rights until June 1, 2028 (or 30 days after he declares he's leaving college, whichever is later).
If he plays all 4 years of his college eligibility, the Flames would own his rights until August 15, 2029.

It seems there have been some players struggling to make the adjustment from CHL to NCAA. I wonder if that perhaps makes future players re-think it a little bit or perhaps take a pause.
